Totally agree we still need Ayling and Cooper around the team. Bringing the young team up
around experience is the way we have had success under Don Revie and is always the way we should do it as far as I’m concerned.

I agree as long as they’re good enough to hold down a starting place. Never sure about the “they’re great in the dressing room”. Surely that’s the coaching team’s job?

Imagine trying to inspire that rat infested dressing room <doh> ffs they all knew well in advance they’d be leaving the sinking ship if relegation happened.

Probably because the so called international stars who played for us last season couldn't give a toss what jouneymen like Cooper & Ayling have to say. Whereas this season's squad are more humble and might actually value when a senior pro is trying to assist them with their career.

Agreed but also hard to win matches when we weren't fit enough.

VAR - what is good for ?

Really enjoying celebrating goals, or the immediate head in hands moment when you realise the flag is up.

Honestly how on earth did we ever get to the stage where at the highest levels of football this most basic of requirements was taken away from us.

Yep. All the debate and they all ignored Pep, who said the premier league is becoming all about the refs and VAR officials who seem to be enjoying the limelight and no longer about the players and the clubs who should be centre of attention.

Pep is a blinkered arse though like all of them.

The only possible exception is Bielsa as he allowed the opposition to walk a goal in to retain the sporting integrity of that particular match.

Can you imagine Pep, Klopp, Arteta or anyone else ever doing that.

He’s right though. All the focus is about bloody refs and not the football. Loving the championship.

Aahh the good ol' days, tumbling around the gelderd like a mad thing, finding you'd travelled yards away from your original position hugging fellow fans on the journey downwards before clambering back to your own mates <laugh>.... the epitome of having a good time watching hopefully a win and a few beers afterwards especially after grafting all week... now been taken over by faceless officials in a box going over miniscule details about someone's eyebrow :emoticon-0173-middl....no thanks I'll stick with my memories

It's always been about the refs and assistants though but everyone just accepted it and got with the game.

England's controversial 1966 World Cup Final goal for example.

No, not like this, waiting around for ages whilst VAR reviews, the ref running over to a monitor, a whole week of talking about aVAR decision not the match. Ref watch and refs miked up ffs. It’s making me turn off premier league football, it’s killing the game as a spectacle and needs scrapping now. We used to moan about a poor decision and move on. Now the officials are becoming centre of attention and I don’t want to watch them.
