not really true the Canary wharf van bomb was just to show that they could still cause destruction while the negotiations took place but they didn't want casualties for obvious reasons .
The 24/7 blanket media coverage on the actions of Hamas militants in what was a brutal slaughter is all that is dominating the narrative at the moment. And that narrative will fuel the emotions of those who want to see Hamas crushed naively believing it will end the conflict. The root cause is the very issue that Israel and the West do not want to confront. Namely the continued Illegal occupation of Palestinian territories. And under international law and UN treaties, the failure of the West to address the humanitarian crisis that it has created. Like you say, the retaliation from Israel is pointless. All it will do is further entrench the hatred and division and breed another generation of militant fighters. And at worst, it will drag Hezbollah and Lebanon into this war and then it's going to be an even bigger **** storm The only solution to this, is to put down the arms and get around the table to negotiate.

No civilians should be losing their lives in this madness ... unfortunately it feels like both sides don't give much of a concern to 'collateral damage' ...
Hamas are a symptom of the problems, not a cause of them In the same way that ISIS were a symptom of the US and the West's unlawful actions in the middle east Politicians and talking heads on TV will give 24/7 blanket coverage about the atrocious actions of Hamas militants without any mention of why these groups have come to exist in the first place Like you say, until they do, it will just be a continuing spiral of violence and death.
that was earlier and was a disaster for the people of Manchester but also in a way for the PIRA as it just added to a series of atrocities which couldn't be justified in any way but as pure terror attacks. Added to the growing lack of numbers and huge number of touts they were ready to negotiate and it now feels as if a united Ireland is coming sooner than later .
All this talk of getting people to negotiate etc. How's that gonna work when neither side want that? We've not been further from that in decades.
I agree no civilians should be losing their lives, but no one would ever come to the table once you beheaded their babies, would it bring you to the table if someone beheaded your family members, no it wouldn't, so any suggestion otherwise is ridiculous. The terrorist organisation Hamas didn't do what they did for a better was of life for Palestinians, they did it because they are sick human beings who could never be appeased, there was no thought of negotiations when those animals carried out their butchery. It needs to be called out for what it is, not whatever narrative people might want to attach to it for way of reason or excuses. If Saturday hadn't of happened, then Sunday, Monday and Tuesday wouldn't have happened. A spokesperson has already said now, they will not stop until Hamas are eliminated, so their actions on Saturday achieved nothing, other than more death and destruction.
Look the killing of all innocent ppl is abhorrent. But we only seem to give a **** or get worked up when it's fed to us after a major event. What shall I do, quote the 34 children killed by the IDF in the West Bank in 2022 or the 36 killed there this year? Does that help? So that justifies killing Israeli children? And then does that justify IDF killing Gazan children as Fosse has just posted above? And then will justify what happens after that? This happens every couple of years and we focus on the same ****e every time, getting worked up pointlessly. And that's precisely the way the narrative is set so that nothing gets done. Why is that? Which is what the Palestinian Ambassador was pointing out. If you really care about innocent lives being lost, then ALL the focus should be on making this attrocity the last one, on solving the disparity between the occupied and the occupiers. The only good thing that can come out of this is if those with the power to do anything actually try and find a settlement. A two state solution that is finally sorted.
