Best regards to your wife in her battle, I hope you can still have some premium time together and that there is at least a chance that she could win in the end

Am not too sure what to say about this other than wish Mrs Fez all the very best. I admire both your attitudes - quality over quantity - stay fit to travel etc. Not the same, I know, but a friend of mine in Sydney was diagnosed with MND a couple of years ago - he and his wife drew up a bucket list of places to visit. They have spent much of their time since then visiting places around Australia - like Uluru, Kakadu National Park, Daintree, The Whitsunday Islands, the Bungle Bungles. He's started to slow down now so nothing strenuous any more - just short visits to out of the way beaches. creating lasting memories for her once he has passed.

Sad news, and little one can say that makes it better. I am in England for a funeral tomorrow where the person did not have the option of creating new memories for her or her family, I feel sure that when possible good memories are the ones we cling to, and the bad ones if not entirely forgotten do fade with time. Tomorrow I will see my best friend who is also on borrowed time, but two years ago he had a three-year forecast, that last month with a different treatment has grown to five years, so there is always hope. Best wishes to both of you, you will be in my thoughts daily.

There are always these chinks of light to cling to. My Best Man's boss was given six months to live 20 years ago, and is still going strong. He can't do all the things he used to but still with energy enough to run a company employing a dozen people and getting out and about - he's into mega bonus territory! These stories offer hope. We're making plans at least for 2025, a European river cruise next year, but Angkor Wat is the target for her.
I lost a good pal to AML a couple of years ago, he was positive to the very end and got married in the Florence Nightingale Hospice at SMH. I watched him eat pretty much 2/3 of a full sized pizza just 3 days before he went - where he put it I don't know!
So long as there's hope and, perhaps more importantly, dignity. We know we'll laugh along the way - its what we do!

It is not often you go to a crematorium, leave after the curtains have closed, walk outside where a large gathering of people from the previous ceremony are still catching up with each other, and hear a familiar voice. This happened yesterday to me, and looking around spotted Sir Jackie Stewart who was with friends from the motor racing community. I don't know who he knew that had died, but a floral replica of a F1 racing car was a fantastic work of art.

Morning all from a windy but sunny Buckinghamshire. Travelling around the area, I really cannot get over the mass destruction of the countryside for the HS2 project. Now we can see that it will be so unnecessary, and part of the heritage of the country has been lost forever. Some people will never forgive the government for this. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Sunny and quite warm in Buckinghamshire today. Had a good Sunday lunch out at a village pub yesterday, which is quite a treat. A pint of real ale went down very well, but having to adjust to the eye-watering prices will take some doing. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Sunny and warm again in Bucks and there are many kites, feathered ones, floating on the thermal currents. Last day here before setting off home tomorrow. Need to buy up a stock of crumpets to take back for the freezer. Although a company in France has started to make them, they are not quite as good. I really like them when the colder weather arrives. We brought some sauces over that our daughter likes, and will take some back that are no longer in our supermarkets. Our middle daughter has given me a large bag full of Christmas and birthday presents to take back for all the French family. She has been very organized, so will save a fortune on postage. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Back home where it is warm and sunny. Yesterday near Calais as I set off from a rather good hotel, the heavens opened, and it was difficult to see where you were driving. It gradually dried up, and before arriving in Paris the sun was out. It is maybe ten years since I went round the city, but was amazed at the amount of new business and housing projects that have been undertaken.
The suit can go back in the wardrobe now, and I hope it will stay there for a few more years. Just need to ensure that the weight stays the same.
Have a good day everyone. <ok>

All that real ale and pub grub won't help you in your quest. ;)

Morning all. Bright and sunny in rural France, but it has not warmed up yet. I have been filling in a questionnaire about the hotel where I stayed in Calais on Wednesday night. It was very good indeed, if a bit expensive, probably due to someone having an over interest in the wine list. Apart from the usual questions about how friendly the staff were, comfort and cleanliness, there was a large section on the environmental measures they have taken. Some were noticeable, such as the food being sourced locally, energy saving lighting and solar panels covering the whole roof. They were quite proud of what they were doing, and asked if I had ideas to take their project even further. Just one hotel doing a bit, so it can be done when there is vision. Have a good day everyone. <ok>
