Guess it depends on the narrative you want to follow. You're right he didn't get the job, you're wrong that he was sacked. He left the club well after they went for Warne. I wasn't trying to trap you with the Dawson comparison, merely using it to show its reasonably common.
If you went into work tomorrow and was told you were no longer wanted to do that Job because a - you're boss didnt feel you could do what he wanted b - they got someone else they wanted to do the job and c - you got a pay off. Would you not class that as being dismissed/sacked?
Again From the guardian Liam Rosenior has been relieved of his duties as interim manager at Derby County, with the League One club keen on appointing Rotherham’s Paul Warne as his replacement. Derby’s owners have been evaluating Rosenior’s position since taking the club out of administration in July and have made an approach for Warne. Relieved of his duties is a nice way of saying he was sacked
Not if I'm still employed? What else does sacked mean? Perfect example, I'm about to start a secondment at work for 12 months. If at the end they don't offer me the role permanently and I return to my previous role, I've certainly not been sacked by any definition.
What are we discussing now Chaz? He was in charge of a L1 team and did pretty ok but got sacked. Why does that bring in him being given a PL job? I didn't say all appointments should be on win ratio only regardless of level. Just that at the level he was at he did OK. Or was he **** in L1 with Derby?
I've posted what I was told where the reasons by players and staff at derby before, long and short of it was his style of play, his want to move on all the older experienced players and only work with younger players, he inability to be flexible and the fans not really keen on him. Who knows how much truth there is in it as it's only what I've been told.
You compared him to fergie Why did you do that? It’s not comparable is it I have no idea how he did How many he won lost or drew He got sacked and got a job here I support him as our manager but I can criticise his tactics or decisions cos I’m a fan of the club
In your scenario it's probably best described as not having the contract extended, in LR scenario he was sacked, it's clear to day to everyone but you.
Sounds like the manager and players need a thicker skin. Every club has a section of supporters who are unhappy and voice it with groans and moans during games, sometimes even boos. Millwall’s fans were booing at half-time and the atmosphere from them in the first half after we 2-1 up was very tense and even toxic. They responded in the second half by being the better team and getting level. They’re paid millions of pounds a year. If they can’t handle the pressure of a minority of fans who moan about us playing out from the back, then that’s entirely down to them.
Not if I was in a temporary job while they looked for someone permanent to do it. Isn't that what an 'interim manager' is?
I guess it depends how you look at it, if he was taking back into the club in another role like Dawson for example then no it's not. But if your asked to leave the club full stop as LR was then it's a sacking / dismissal
There’s no let up is there !! Anyone actually read my point about the complete turnarounds yesterday in results - it’s the Championship ! First time back in this div , went to Wolves we lost 1-0 or drew can’t be certain - I asked a Wolves fan about the division , he said ‘everyone beats everyone ‘ and he hated it’ Unless you are very good that’s what will happen - we don’t have the money to be very good , so we need time to get the mix right - it isn’t
Maybe it's another lost in translation thing. In my world if you still have a job with your employer you haven't been "sacked" but maybe it's a colloquialism lost on me.
