Yeah seeing us implode the way we did was a concern. Up until the sending off we were beginning to take charge of the game. Our injuries are still so frustrating aswell, Cirkin YET again unavailable, Ekwah with the worst dead leg ever known and Alese still trying to get over last seasons issues with injury. I half expected Pritch to get injured because hes always due an injury, especially when hes been starting and finishing games for us instead of his usual 60 mins or impact sub appearances. We also knew what we were getting with Dack and injuries. Cirkin, Ekwah and Alese are very frustrating though.
I thought the dissent rules were more aimed at direct swearing *at* the ref, e.g. if Neil had said "you're ****ing **** ref" or something I'd understand it. "That's a ****ing foul" might have been said to the ref, but it's not really aimed at him imo, just letting off a bit of steam. Joke of a decision, although hopefully Dan has learned not to give refs the decision to make in future
Aye if the ref hadn't **** his pants maybe 1-1 would have been a fair result. Hope Huggins is ok it'd be a massive shame if he picked up another serious injury.
Interesting that this ref has previous. Not mentally strong enough to referee at this level. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
He seemed to walk off ok but that doesn't mean much. Our defence pretty much dissolved after Neil was sent off, I think that was because our CM ceased to exist after that and our back line was really exposed and vulnerable.
Yeah we had an 18 year old playing in CM with no options on the bench with Evans, Matete out and Ekwahs leg falling off... Watching what the Physio was doing with Huggins and Huggins explaining where the pain was looked to me like it wasn't just a knock. I hope im wrong.
Aye unfortunately I agree it didn't look good. Hopefully if there is a problem it's something new (and minor) not a reoccurrence.
It's what I think. Maybe knows the rules, but can't cope under the pressure, hence why up to today he'd been VAR official more times than actually refereeing a league game this season. And it's why I think he'll be 4th official somewhere or VAR official after the international break.
I was at wolves in the late 80s or early 90s. Gordon Armstrong sent off for telling the linesman “that’s a ****ing corner”, then, in the first half, another player red carded for dissent for us. If this is the standard rule and is applied evenly across all forms, no problem. But fir me, it wasn’t just the Neil red card. Crooke could have been booked 4 or 5 times. His first was at least as bad, probably worse, than Neil’s first yellow. The full back, blatant pull back on Clarke, advantage played, not revisited by the ref, same full back, foul almost idemtical to Roberts’ yellow. referees have a duty to protect young players in situations like this, bring the captain over and say “tell him to stop swearing at me” and manage the situation, instead, just red card the first incident! The Mille t half time, the lad shouldve been booked for both the foul and the reaction, Ballard gets yellow, the Boro lad gets yellow, yet the foul effectively goes completely unpunished. I think had it been Jobe off and not Neil, we’d have had a better chance (same if we’d had Ekwah, Dack or Pritchard available) the youngsters simply couldn’t handle what had happened. Needed experience in the midfield and we didn’t have any
We have a problem with refs at SOL. This ****er decided that he would show everyone how good he was by making the brave deciscions, it didnt matter that they were wrong and he ignored the constant fouls and barging from the opposition, the sad ****er probably went off feeling smug, ticked one of his boxes, then went home to knock one out over a picture of Howard Webb
Monty, Monty, Monty. These are delusions mate. If that’s the way you really feel I’d give up football because it’s not for you. I should add with this I’m putting you on ignore as these posts don’t really deserve attention
The problem I have is that there is no decision for the ref to make but he made a decision anyway. If the ref had been doing his job properly and had refereed the game on its merits the situation would not arise in the first place, twice we challenged their keeper with minimal contact and a free kick was given both times, as soon as they put a challenge in on Patto no free kick. It was not one error by the ref it was a multitude of errors and proves that without var they have forgotten how to do their job
I mean it was clearly aimed at the ref. I don't normally take their side but Neil made sure he could hear his words from 20 yards away too. I can see why the ref wouldn't let that slide. Shame like as it was a even game I thought. The second the 2nd goal when in, I upped and left for the pub. Wasn't watching them thrash us and it was clearly going to happen. We set up terrible coming out with the ten men like.
Im in the “we don’t know what happened” “corner”. Not sure there even needs to be corners. Either way Neil needs to learn from it. He will know that, Mowbray will know that. No matter what Mowbray comes out and says in public.
Ekwah was moving well when he ran into the ground. I imagine he’s back after the international break.
Need him back. Even in the firs half I thought Jobe and Neil were getting the run around and we looked soft though the middle.
