    How is it mental?

We have been **** for ****ing years at home and now we can’t even beat the worst team I have ever seen at st Mary’s.

Deserved boos, even though the performance wasn’t that bad in isolation. Just summed up the club at the moment, lacklustre and pathetic.

Imo I agree with some, but Downes should focus on the teams performances first. They haven’t earned the right to complain about support as they have drastically underperformed so far this season and I find his complaint a bit of an attitude problem actually.

I think it is a bit daft to boo, but in context I can fully understand why some do, honestly these players deserve to play in front of an empty stadium if that is their attitude. I think we have done well to get behind them as much as we do.

I would never boo, but booing that result isn’t mental at all.

We are a big club in this division and losing to that team in that manner is totally unacceptable to be honest.

If we dominate every game like we did today, we win 90% of them and get promoted. It was a freak result.

We didn't lose, but it damn well felt like it.

I didn't hear any booing in the Itchen North.

Try telling that to Saints fans. In the history of our last two seasons the freak results have been Saints wins. And as well as he played, keepers can only save them if they are hit somewhere in his range. We finish like celery sticks.

I am giving the Rotherham keeper Man of the match. He pulled off a couple of great saves and was the reason we never won.

A very, very bad result. Not as embarrassing as the Sunderland thrashing, but (all things considered) I'd call today our worst result of the season.

Yes their keeper made some excellent saves, but he also made a ton of very simple saves. Far too often we tamely put it straight at him.

Rotherham couldn't have made their game plan any more obvious. Hold onto the 1-0 scoreline for as long as possible, and hope to grab one. And it worked. They were happy to time waste, to foul, to sit back - for the whole match. Fair play to them, no criticism at all from me at them doing that. We only have ourselves to blame. We can't afford to miss that many chances, and we can't afford to be so passive for much of the second half when the game wasn't yet won.

We basically only had three attractive options from the bench. Bad call to use them all at once. Left us having to again turn to Aribo and Mara when we got desperate - two players who I'd happily never see pull on a Saints shirt again.

Yep, ****e fans tbh. So bizarre how anyone can boo that.
We've dominated, Had one goal rules out for offside, 2 insane saves and one off the line.. Yet fans boo.
Just stay at home next time ffs.

You wrote Rotherham off when it was 1-0. That is arrogant. Yes we should have buried them but you can never write a team off at 1-0.

Yep, it's not like last season where the players weren't trying.

We were dominant and you couldn't fault the effort at all. Frustrating yes, but effort and application was spot on..

Would really like to see the club acknowledge this publicly if possible/appropriate.

He wasn't holding back in the slightest and was absolutely screaming at the ref. Genuinely thought he was going to refuse to play on at one point.
