    REFEREE IS ANTHONY TAYLOR.

please log in to view this image

Taylor sent off the Reds’ boss towards the end of a 1-0 win over Man City back in October 2022 for yelling in the face of linesman Gary Beswick, who is incidentally also involved at the Amex on Sunday.
The full list of officials for the weekend’s fixture won’t make for good reading as far as Klopp is concerned, with Craig Pawson the man tasked with fourth official duties.

The manager berated Pawson for two decisions that cost his side the chance to surpass the club’s all-time unbeaten record following the 3-2 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium back in November 2021.

All eyes will be on the VAR room, where Chris Kavanagh will be assisted by Matthew Wilkes at Stockley Park.

Kavanagh’s decision to overlook a clear handball in Man City‘s win over Everton in March 2022 ultimately saw the Reds lose out on the Premier League title by a point during an unprecedented quadruple chase.

I assume we will actually try to win for reals in this game?

    alisson
    trent konate vvd Robertson
    Szoboszlai macallister gravenberch
    salah nunez diaz

it's high time the best back 4 was put back together.

I can't really pick between all the cm options to replace Jones. gravenberch has a bright start last night but sunk into the same malaise as the rest. Elliott did OK at cm first half bit only OK.

I'm just hoping our subs last night were a direct nod to this game and lack of cover as a result of referee debacles

Luckily the game will be completely different in style as there won't be a low block to contend with.

CHRIS SUTTON HAS GONE FOR AWAY WIN 2:3

    Brighton v Liverpool (14:00)
Brighton shipped six goals last week and I think Liverpool will be able to get at them down the flanks.

Mohamed Salah looks in particularly good form at the moment - but if the Reds don't win this game then I suppose they will want a replay, won't they?

I like Reds boss Jurgen Klopp but, if that happened, it would turn football into a total farce. Everyone would want every game replayed over any contentious decision that has gone against them, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Of course they were unlucky against Tottenham and that was a horrendous decision to disallow Luis Diaz's goal, but Liverpool have to take a bit of responsibility themselves over the red cards for Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota - I really cannot understand why they appealed against Jones' sending-off.

The Seagulls played in Marseille on Thursday and we are still waiting to really see how European football will affect them this season.

Yes, they beat Bournemouth a few days after playing AEK Athens last month, but this is a much tougher task for them.

Brighton beat Liverpool twice at the Amex Stadium last season - 3-0 in the league and 2-1 in the FA Cup - but this is a different Liverpool side, especially in midfield. I can see Alexis Mac Allister shining on his old patch, and taking home the points.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-3

JONES KNOWS BEST HAS GONE FOR COMFORTABLE AWAY WIN 1:4
Brighton vs Liverpool, Sunday 2pm, live on Sky Sports
Grab some popcorn. Settle in for some box office action.

Regular readers (hello mum) will be aware of my tendency to side with Brighton when priced up as outsiders, but I'm resisting the urge here as Liverpool's firepower is just too hot to ignore. The lack of chemistry and balance in the Brighton midfield is causing huge issues for them in conceding an alarming amount of high probability chances.

That's led to 14 goals conceded in their seven Premier League games and with a emotionally sapping 2-2 draw in Marseille still fresh in the legs, I'm worried for them against Jurgen Klopp's attack, who have scored in their last 20 games in all competitions and at least three times in seven of their last 11 fixtures. The 11/10 with Sky Bet on an away win looks one of the best bets of the weekend.

SCORE PREDICTION: 1-4 | JONES KNOWS' BEST BEST: Liverpool to win (11/10 with Sky Bet - Bet Here!)
Wolves vs Aston Villa, Sunday 2pm

Yet another one who doesn't seem to have the mental acumen to distinguish between a clear factual error and a controversially subjective decision. Prick.

I can't argue with that. I sometimes wonder how they get their jobs and how they keep them.

Who really cares what they think though? How many would care if we were deprived of his pure guesswork?
He has no greater knowledge than any number of fans and any one of us could do what he does, tbh.
Waste of money imo, same as Garth.

I don't read Sutton's crap, apart from the headline bit that comes up on the Beebs Liverpool home page.
I have occasionally looked at Crook's TotW just to see if he's managed to put out a team with fewer than nine goal-scorers.
It's patently obvious he just phones in his rubbish - there's no way in Hell he watches all the games.
    Stealing a living.
