Knew a girl at work whose claim to fame is that she was custard-pied by the Chuckle Bros. ( phew that was close nearly wrote "cream-pied"!
Was going to miss this game but have pushed back a funeral by 24hrs & will now make. Edit; just read that & it’s not as crass as it sounds!
When I joined the RAF in the sixties, knew a lad from Rotherham who accused the NCO's of bullying, complained to his Dad who came down to sort it out. When his Dad arrived he was wearing a kilt! Cue more bullying when he returned to
With no u21s game this week it would be nice to see Amo back on the bench. Also Dibling deserves another go soon.
With the team playing better now it opens up the possibility of some youth cameo appearances again. Never a good idea with a disfunctional team
Or you go the other way, with the senior players playing better there's less opportunity for youngsters getting game time.
What good are cameos though? They'd be better off playing for the B team rather than getting 5 or 10 minutes at the end of a match. I suppose they could do both if both teams are at home.
For those that are ready, they will learn more from 10 minutes at a professional level than 90 mins in a B team. All about the intensity, the crowd, the pressure etc.
Honestly, 30 minutes here or there for players like SAA will make a huge impact on their careers. I also think SAA had earned that start, so it is incredibly harsh that he has gone from starter to out of the team altogether.
As I said, there's no game for the u21s this weekend (iirc), so there's no harm in putting a couple of them on the bench. Also, we're trying to build a reputation as a club with a pathway to the first team.
When our entire first team is available, I don't think there is space - even in a 20 man matchday squad - to include youth team players. But that will be an incredibly rare occasion. Right now, for example, we're without Stephens, Stewart and Larios. If they were available, I probably wouldn't have Holgate, Aribo or Mara on the bench. But whilst they are unavailable, I'd be quite open to giving the occasional 15 or 20 minute cameo to a promising youngster, ahead of that trio. Or even just the experience of being on the bench.
For sure. Then they get the chance to impress in those 10/15 minutes and show why they deserve more playing time. Whereas if a player does well in u21s, it is always considered doing well for that age group, but they'd never earn a first team start from it.
It's the day before matchday. Anyone had any dreams, about to switch on the dishwasher or have a feeling in their water?
