Not sure about this. Glasgow is less than 55.5 degrees north last time I checked.
As for north it is very subjective, but my line is north of the Humber.
Imo when politicians say "The North", they clearly mean Stevenage up over.

North of River Tees
North Tees down to Leeds M62
Midlands M62 down to South of Brum
South is South of Brum to River Thames
Deep South is Thames to South coast

An approximate line between Bristol and Great Yarmouth is the border between south and midlands to me. Border between Chester, through Lincon and to Skeggy is midland to north. That has always been my view.You must log in or register to see images

If the Centre is in Leicester then for me Manchester, Sheffield and Probably Leeds are all in the Midlands and should not be classed as Northern. The North is from Leeds to the borders
