Played well enough up until the second goal then fell apart. It's the lack of goal scoring up front without Sargent and Barnes. Rowe gave hope in the first half and Sara's goal evened it up, but we never really looked like scoring really. Can't be very optimistic about another away game at Coventry.
I think we have serious problems. Can't score, can't defend. No chance of promotion, we really are on a downward spiral.
I am usually pretty positive about our chances , but September was a disaster & 4 away losses on the bounce has dented that optimism. Hwang & Idah are not impressing up top & arguably our best 4 defenders keep making dumb mistakes. Stacey Sara & Row are playing well but we are severely lacking leadership. Ipswich are worryingly lightyears ahead of us & look good for promotion, a top 6 finish now looks the best we can Hope for.
Is there any true predictability in football? How do you account for Brighton losing 6-1 to Villa in spite of having 62% of the possession and a higher xG rating? It truly is a funny old game.
I got one thing I've been wanting, yesterday, with Sara starting in the 10 position; but he only got off one shot in the game! Duffy had the most shots for us with four. Should have been the other way around. Sara was also credited with just one dribble, same as Rowe. None of this is what I expected. Ui-Jo is not the harassing forward I thought he was - a la Pukki and Sargent. I don't know what the answer is but DW needs to find one. ps. Neither CB fills me with confidence.
I am beginning to think that Hwang was a panic loan. He has been pretty well anonymous in most matches. Our dire form stems from the loss of Sargent and then Barnes. Perhaps we need to try a different CB pairing?
When Sara is pushed forward he seems to lose the room to use his passing skills. In midfield he's the outlet for the defence and then passes the ball to the attacking players. His pass success rate is 85% and I'm sure his key pass rate is high as well. With Barnes out, we lack an alternative CAM. Gibbs is now being coached in that direction and has played there successfully, so that might be a solution. With only two strikers, it's a risk to start them both so we'll have to see what Wagner comes up with.
Not sure if I read your post correctly, CS2010. My comment about the CB's was just an additional thought about the team.
