Fair play Aber you know how to dig them up. So here was a guy with a story to tell. Apart from his power chord inventions, he was a Korean (I think) war veteran with one lung. One if the original Lazy Pine Wranglers I reckon he was a huge inspiration for the likes of Pete Townsend et al. Nice work my boy
Were you there on that soggy day/night at Ninian Park in 1976to see him? I went but not many others did, a poor turn out. https://www.keepcardifflive.com/new...6-bob-marley-amp-the-wailers-play-ninian-park
not me I was a wee knipper in 76…….I was dancing to the Smurf’s rather than the buffalo soldier…..thank fk I grew out of the Smurf’s…..last year lol
I do try clingo dude always stoned so always listening and digging for whatever’s gonna hit the right spot glad you like and glad you told me that background
Not just the song but Leonard says a few words about what he hopes will be there forever with him about half way in…….great words and makes you wonder why humans don’t appreciate what we got here and now rather than hate and war which governments keep bringing us
maybe it’s just me because I’m a LSD user anyways anyone heard of the Richard kemp and co microdot gang 6 part story on Spotify or bbc sounds called acid dreams its brilliant if you haven’t heard it before music by gruff Rhys narrated by Rhys ifans https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0d7r8bz
Watched the film the wind that shakes the barley years back and this song stuck in my head…….no Irish blood in me but I recognise the struggle they had against the British army especially the Black and Tan scummy fkrs anyways from tragedy something beautiful happened and this couples story is part of history now
An absolutely beautiful song Aber, sung by many but none better than Jim McCann. Oh and if you ever come across the Rod Stewart version (he who would cover anything for a bit more fame and attention) please give it a wide berth. It is atrocious.
I don't know where I heard this guy first (probably Aberdude) but I love this guy's covers...Songs Elvis should have should have done. Concert video footage mixed with sound by Jim Brown The King from Belfast.
