A very professional performance in my opinion. Did what we had to do to get the 3 points. Not an exciting performance compared to some but plenty of good play and good defending when needed. Pleased for huggins and Ba who are taking their chance at starting games with both hands. It's great when you have quality in depth throughout the team. That said i think we will need to be better again on Saturday against an inform boro side. I'm sure the gaffer will have them up for that one. Looking forward to it. On we go.
Over the moon for Huggins, he has had a tough start to his time here with injuries and the look of joy when he lashed it home was great to see, I think we have the best fullbacks in many years now and would hate to be the man who has to pick from them when they are all fit. Burstow is starting to settle in and get the feel for how we play all he needs is a goal and he will be flying, he is just a young kid who has been training with some of the best players in world football at Chelsea, lets give the kid a chance to flourish he could be ours next season ! It was a real calm and assured performance and just what we need at home, I thought we played with the Cardiff game in mind and tried to right the wrongs of that performance, I reckon the entertaining footy is best suited to away games when the home team comes at us and we just pick them off with our quick forward play. Our lass thinks I am a bit mental though because I sat and watched the recording of the game when I got home last night, she was shaking her head when I strapped my armchair to my back and pressed play on the recording, I am that happy with the way the club is heading that I like watching the same game twice in 4 hours
There’s a lot around me like that, they need to condition themselves because gone are the days when we shoot the ball forward with little hope of penetration. It took me a while at first but now I’m chill with it
Few groans in the crowd yesterday when we gave the ball away, or passed it backwards. People need to remember where we were a couple of years ago when Parkinson was our manager and Joel Lynch, Josh Scowen and Kyle ****ing Lafferty were our players
Thats a load of ****e that mind! Maybe not the best they have played but not having that it was bad. Watford never looked like scoring we scored two could have been three or four. All while really not needing to step it up a gear.
Dont mind last night - singing in the rain - professional performance - Huggins - wow that was some goal. O9 did well, Jobe looks a good player - I really like the look of Adil. 30 seconds of Chris Rigg- he really should be in bed at that time!! One thing I would like Ba to do is just sometimes look at where the ball is landing he sometimes runs with his head down - awareness will come mind. Mind you he leaps like a young salmon
And Dan Neil looking like a drowned rat was quite funny towards the end - well me and daughter 2 found it funny as were wet too
We look like we have a proper player on our books with Aouchiche mind. From the little glimpses so far he could be outstanding.
Old fella in front of me groans literally every time we pass the ball backwards, even if there is absolutely nothing available in front
Me dads the same. It’s hard, especially when all our free kicks and throws which aren’t in deep areas are fed back to recycle properly. love watching us at the moment
Aye people are so conditioned to the old styles it’s hard to break the desire to hoof the ball up front. Like you say it’s class watching us at the minute.
Aye. My Dad shouts "COME ON GET IT FORWARD" when we are passing it across the back line. I've tried to explain the method of playing through the press, but he just shrugs and shouts again Old people man
I chuckle at the shouts of shoot everytime it comes to a player outside the box. Takes me back to whenever players like John Kay, who never scored, and we jokingly shouted shoot whenever he crossed the half way line. Last night for our second it came to Neil and up went the shouts, but he played the better option to Burstow for thr cross and we scored. Dont get me wrong, I still appreciate a great long ball, or a thunderous tackle. And sometimes a shot from distance lifts everybody. It is nice we can mix it up now and keep the ball or be quite direct with our running.
Definitely think we need to mix it up. Against Cardiff we were guilty of trying to score the perfect goal - as much as I enjoy our style of play, there is no harm in an early cross, or a long diag behind their defence. We can be quite predictable at times
