In the lounge at Heathrow on my way home. Just poured my self a, very, large gin and tonic. It tasted a bit floral for me but I "forced" it down. Went up to get something else and check the bottle. It was an alcohol free gin!!!! That's 15 minutes I'm not getting back....
The audacity….in a bar…buys a drink…being the friendly northern gent I say to the bar girl…have a drink for yourself….she says thanks…I will have a bottle….no problem pay & sit down…..the cheeky bitch had taken for a bottle of wine, I presumed she meant a bottle of beer. These London birds are something else
So this ‘Government’ are going to increase the smoking age every year so eventually no one can buy cigs, or cigars. Ignoring how tricky that will be for shopkeepers in a few years time (“ahh yes, you look 37 so feel free to buy your Lambert & Butlers…you however clearly look not a day over 36 so you must stand outside”) why is it launched with such dreadful photoshopping?! Why not even look like you are near the other people in the photo! Why not at least use a photo of British kids instead of a stock image of young Yanks?!
Right intention, poor execution. And if it's so bad for our health, the NHS, etc (which I'd say it is) then why wait so long?!? And then what about alcohol, vapes, ..... Minefield. But I fully agree with the basic intention.
It's a vote winner, that's all, something other parties can't easily counter. Probably violating board rules now
It's one of those ideas you have late at night, after half a dozen pints, which seems like genius and will definitely be a surefire winner. Which quickly starts to unravel in the cold light of day. Impossible to police. Unnecessarily complex. Infact, downright barking. There's too many inconsistencies to consider here, and it'll break the no politics rule anyway but here's one; In a few year's time a young adult will be able to legally consume heroin having being proscribed it as part of the Heroin Assisted Treatment plan, will be able to consume cannabis in their own home as the law essentially turns a blind eye to this and will be arrested for trying to buy 20 Benson's. Is that what you want? Cos that's what's about to happen.
It's easy to police and control, so the shop owners will end up paying fines (as drivers generally are). Going after drug users is a non profitable, endless task. It doesn't make sense how an islands borders can be so porous to drug and gun importation (and humans) in comparison to say, Japan.
