Said after the Cardiff game that we’d play worse and win. It was a “professional” win tonight. Did what we needed to without really needing to get out if 2nd gear. 2 great goals mind. I like winning games in that way, shows the heart the team has.

Played bad and won. The Boro game the big one now, but these refs better start booking players or we will lose more to injury.

I suppose I should sit on the naughty step as I left at 94 minutes and 40 seconds.
Couple of excuses, my old mans bladder made me do it, and from getting in the ground I had never left my seat.
With regards to getting in the ground, I was getting in my seat just as the players came down the tunnel. I sit in the PC, there were still canny ques at the South stand and South west area. But what surprised me were the number of people waiting to be served for a burger. Some of them must have missed the start of the game, bizarre, all for a burger

Only seen it back once, I think he was trying to claim Ba kicked him in the head, if thats what it was, but TBH that collision if there even was one, was after Ba had scored, gets up well for a little lad

Sunderland: Tony Mowbray on Alex Pritchard's injury

    By Dominic Shaw

TONY Mowbray says the calf injury that ruled Alex Pritchard out of Wednesday night's win over Watford is only a minor problem - but he still expects the forward to miss the visit of Middlesbrough.

"Pritch is probably is unlikely for the weekend, he's got a slight calf strain," explained Mowbray.

"Calf strains, they're really delicate things, if you gamble you probably have a calf that tears rather than it being a little niggle, and it will be touch and go to see whether he can make it. I'll have a chat with him and if he feels OK...

"The scan was very minimal but it showed damage so collectively we felt it was best he leaves it. There's an international break coming up but we haven't nailed down Saturday yet, we'll wait and see how he feels and how he trains."

What also eased the pressure on rushing Pritchard back was Abdoullah Ba's display against the Hornets. The winger was lively throughout and scored the second goal in a comfortable 2-0 win, staking a strong claim to keep his place in the team against Boro.

Ba had to settle for a bit-part role in his first season at the Stadium of Light but has enjoyed a promising start to this campaign. Mowbray has never questioned the 20-year-old's attributes and is excited about the winger's potential now he's starting to add final product to his game.

Mowbray said: "He's got wonderful athleticism. I'm pleased for him that he's broken through any ceiling that might have been there of trying to disrupt Roberts or Clarke every week. It was the same team every week last season, we had Amad doing his job on the right side of the pitch.

"I feel as if he's a threat now, he's powerful in the air, he's got a wonderful spring. He can run all day, he's fast, mobile. He just has to work on his end product. He scored today so that's an answer to the question of us needing to see more assists and goal efforts."

Smallest little thing but just watched the access all areas and really like mayenda standing in the tunnel shaking hands with them all coming in from the warms ups, lads not been involved yet but the togetherness of this squad is something else

The trouble is all teams do it now and it only gets worse when the refs ignore it. A push in the chest like their player did last night would have been a red card years ago.

Indeed he does. Watching it and the keeper, immediately after, on one knee looking at the ref, then, about 3 seconds laters, collapses and rolls about! Ridiculous!
