First time I have really looked at the table in any detail as we hit 10 games. It is mad. All the way down to 14th will probably be pleased with their start in points terms. Brilliant league to be part of.

Disagree. Doesn't hold it at all well enough. Weak.

Think he has been rather poor and doesn't offer a goal threat at all.

Definitely some of our players feeling the pace mind. Need a break.

I’m with prehab on Burstow. Don’t see what others see in him at all. By no means is he bad. But he’s done nothing that’d make me overly concerned if he got injured

    Funny old game is football....
Watford have scored the same number of goals as Preston, and they've conceded 2 more, yet they're 11 points behind them...crackers really.

Team full of individual talent but zero cohesion. Stands out like a mile .

Agree with you on this mate.
We need more from whoever plays up front than he has offered to date.

I’d like to see stats on how many passes were made to Burstow tho. It seems like the team still play like we don’t have a striker. Must be a struggle for any striker to get involved.

It’s why I’d like to see Rusyn start as he seems the kind who will just sprint about being a problem and then get on the ball and almost act like another attacking midfielder, whilst also be able to do what Gelhardt couldn’t, which is get in behind well

Rather we develop someone of our our own that Chelsea. If it's someone elses they have to be a pivotal player. Yet to see anything to suggest he is.

I didn't rate him much until the previous game when I thought he did really well and showed his quality, was back to being hardworking but fairly quiet tonight.

I would prefer to play Hemir because he looks a natural to me but I think Mowbray likes Burstow's work rate.

Curious Burstow is mentioned as he seems to really suit the team. Some of his runs free up so much space for others to play in

We were too slow in our build up in the first half, we seriously missed Pritchard. Burstow made about 3 runs early on and was totally ignored. We need to up the pace against Boro, and if we are not going to play to a centre forward, why have we now got 3?

    Totally enjoyed that match.

It's an absolute joy watching these players. Yes of course they make mistakes and don't always play the right ball but, wow, some of the play left Watford's heads spinning.

There were some great moves, the young players are learning all the time and we scored a fabulous goal. Compared to some previous Sunderland teams they're Brazil ...

    ... absolutely can't wait for Saturday <party>

First win in the Premier league at the stadium of light was a nice little 2-0 win against Watford as I recall. In off the bar aswell as I recall from SKP.

That first 40 mins was really frustrating, a lot of slow sideways and backwards ****e with no change of tempo and playing off far too many touches. Generally it was far too easy for Watford to keep their shape and we struggled to break through. The times we got in it lead to a poor decision at the crucial moment and the chance was lost. Namely Jobe not shooting first time at the edge of the box and then Burstow choosing to try the backheel instead of a shot. It took a moment of individual quality and I'm over the moon for Huggins, he'll have had some really tough times out injured wondering if he'd ever be right and that showed the potential of the lad. He was superb tonight, provided great support going forward, was as solid as you like defensively and scored a class goal.

Second half I felt we controlled it well, obviously the second goal was important for us and gave us that breathing space. We looked a threat on the break and could have ended up with more than two. We frustrated them and they took a couple of petulant cards.

Its a good three points for us. MoM - Niall Huggins.

Funny game tonight. Watford were possibly the better side in the 1st half - they pressed well and forced us into mistakes and loose passes but they had zero cutting edge.
Never seen us give the ball away so much as we did tonight, but we took our chances and deserved the win.

Thought Jobe was outstanding in centre midfield and we are now starting to see the Huggins we thought we'd signed 2 years ago. He's rapid and that burst of acceleration gets him and us out of trouble time and time again.

Lot of chat on here about Burstow, but we aren't playing to his strengths - there was 1 attempted through ball in the 1st half and very little else. Not that it matters when we are scoring so freely.

Watched the goals/incidents back - their red card was harsh, but the ref was consistently **** for the 90 mins so it's no surprise he got that one wrong too.

Special mention to the 30 or so Watford fans who stayed silent for 90 mins, then proceeded to sing "is this a library?" at us.

I find comments like this confusing - we are a possession based team and we invite the press, with the intention of passing through it hence the sideways passing.
Are you one of the lot who were shouting "get it forward man"? Probably the same who then groan if we play it long and lose possession

Aye thought Burstow did well personally, is reminding me of Amad the way he's finding his way into the team. Unlikely to be as good but liked what I saw tonight. Great result when slightly off the pace, great goals, loving it <cheers>
