I'm not going to pretend that I have been a NCFC fan for the whole of my life, in fact I was born in Colchester, don't get me wrong because I wasn't a col u fan either. I moved to the City 10 years ago and have settled here and having lived in other cities in the UK such as Brum and Manchester as well as cities in Europe (job related) I can honestly say that Norwich is VERY special and like no other, I love this place. I started following city properly when I went to see them at home getting whopped by Reading 2-0 at the end of our relegation season. I also saw the total whipping we received by Col u at home, with my Dad (a col u fan) taking the piss out of me the whole game. then the reverse at Col u where I was sitting with my Dad and almost got kicked out. Then Mr Lambert pitched up and performed a complete miracle, which he continues to do. I am not going to start spouting out a load of rubbish regarding the great things he has done and lord it up too much as I have a point to make, which is slightly different to the amazing amount of posts that emphasize the rise we have had. and here it comes................................. I do not like being part of the premier league. It's not because the stupid money involved or the primadonnas that play in the league. I just found the schedule of games more exciting in the championship, the Tuesday night games and the matches where people, in most part stood up when they got "robustly" challenged. I miss Nelson's lack of pace and total commitment, I miss seeing Drury scoring, I miss the Derby's and a lot more. Also, I feel bad for the guys who didn't really get a fair crack of the whip like Oli Johnson (Southend Game), Cody Mac and Anthony Macnamee. Also, probably Drury will be let out on loan or sold in January window and I feel a bit of sadness that I probably will never see him again in the yellow and green that he has stood by for so long. I know financially It may have been the best for the club, but I'm struggling to square it up. I started following city properly at the lowest point, and I had a better time seeing city in the Championship and to some extent even League 1 with the leeds game's and Charlton at home which was the start of it. At least the teams that came to us had a good go, stood up and had the balls to act like real men when challenged. I miss that. Said my bit. Not a moan really just how I feel.
I find the international breaks very boring. I preferred division 1/premier league with 22 teams and 42 matches. I guess it works if you are in the european cup or uefa cup.
I actually agree with everything you have said, but I still want Norwich to be the best club they can be. I love seeing them geting a bigger share of the spotlight and that people all over the country are now (or soon will be) aware of how good it is to be Yellow. I yearn to see us win something, probably not this year, but should we survive, in a couple of years time we might be able to put a bit more emphisis on challenging in the cups. Maybe it is because we are in a little bit of a black hole just now. Since almost the start of your time with us we hav been challenging at the top end of whatever league we have been in and this year our sole aim is to make 17th or better. We are an also ran this year and may well be for a couple more after it (should we achieve our aim). Until we Establish ourselves and are able to compete (in cups if not league) then I fear times are not going to match up to the past couple of years.
Agree to a large extent. The Championship is a good, competitive division and the standard of football is ok to watch. It is really underlined for me when I watch Lowestoft Town, top of the Ryman league. It seems little better than Sunday AM pub football. And International breaks...what a bore.
I agree that the way matches are scheduled in the EPL can really piss you off at times, but I will ALWAYS want to see my beloved NCFC play at the highest level and I definitely NEVER want us to sink to the depths of Division 3 again. We are a big (not huge a la Man U et all), but a big club and we are, in my opinion, where we belong. Growing up in the seventies, we were always, (bar 3 seasons), in the top flight. As far as feeling sorry for ex players Kemp, don't be. All is fair in love and football, it's sport, it's the survival of the fittest, it's all about winning you get nothing for finishing second, no-one remembers a loser, it's the way it should be. The rewards for success in football are immense, for failure it's ruthless. That's why these decisions have to be made, Paul Lambert knew that the players you mention were not good enough or no longer good enough to play in the EPL. As he also pointed out recently, the fans may be singing out his name loud and proud at the moment, but lose a dozen games on the spin .............................. OTBC
If you´d followed us from ´59 As some of us have, then you´d know, That you have to enjoy the good times To make up for the times that are low, And rest assured, they´ll come again Those days when you wished we were here, So don´t wish them away, my friend They´re far too precious and dear.
