Quite different though. There’s many more ‘scores’ in rugby usually so the joy isn’t the same as the joy of a single goal by City. I don’t really like it in rugby either though tbh
Scunthorpe United - Club Statement Scunthorpe United can confirm that a takeover has been completed for the club by local businesswoman Michelle Harness. A current Director of the club, and former Commercial Manager of over 15 years at the Iron, Michelle has acquired the club from the outgoing David Hilton. Following a busy few days of negotiations and putting plans in place, Michelle is delighted to be taking on the football club, saying: “I would like to thank everyone who assisted in the transaction, especially David Hilton. “There are a lot of challenges and problems to overcome, but David has taken no fee for the club, and wiped all monies that he personally invested to enable this deal to happen. I wish him and his family all the best for the future, and I hope he finds some peace away from football. “I’d also like to acknowledge the efforts of Simon Elliott, who has massively assisted in getting this deal over the line. There is now a lot of work to do behind the scenes to get our great football club back on track, and that work starts immediately with the fantastic team we have working for us, starting with the appointment of a new board.”
Klopp really is a stereotypical Scouser. Imagine how many games would be replayed each season? Always the victims. Jurgen Klopp has called for Liverpool's match against Tottenham to be replayed after the VAR failed to award Luis Diaz's goal which was ruled out for offside. Klopp said: "It's really important that as big as football is and important as football is we deal with it in a proper way. "All the people involved, the on-field referee, linesman, fourth official and especially in this case VAR, didn't do that on purpose. It was an obvious mistake and I think there would have been solutions for it afterwards. Some people probably don't want me to say, but not as the manager of Liverpool so much, more as a football person, the only outcome should be a replay. That's how it is. It probably will not happen." Whiny ****
'Taken no fee for the club', he only paid three quid for it anyway. The chancer should be no where near a football club, wonder if he'll change his name for a fourth time. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
And a few hundred grand to pay off HMRC, PAYE and various other things, he'll have lost about half a million in this fiasco. He's clearly a bit of a twat, but he put in money to avoid liquidation when nobody else fancied it.
Why are mistakes by VAR referees treated and talked about so differently to mistakes by players. Many, many, games I've watched a player will make an absolute howler that directly influences the out come of a game. A striker missing a sitter, a goal keeper fluffing a save, a defender giving away a soft penalty, a badly misplaced pass at the back, a missed penalty. All could change the out come of a game. A similar howler by a VAR ref and the world has come to an end. If VAR didn't exist the ref would have gone with the lines man and ruled it, wrongly, offside. So **** what I've seen loads of those too.
VAR only exists to correct clear and obvious errors. This is something it doesn't always do. It makes errors in correcting errors. Which contradicts it's sole reason for existence. It should spontaneously cease to exist in a maelstrom of it's own inherent contradictions, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have realised this yet.
Agree with you, DBT. It's muted an already struggling atmosphere at rugby. It works better on TV when you can watch replays and have stats on the screen, but live, it's ****.
A bit of a twat, how very generous. if David White, Hilton, Anderson, Mellors (the various names he's had, (George Michael fan?!) told me it was October I'd check the calendar. Obviously the convicted fraudster will have had the best of intentions taking Scunny on, with no ulterior motive whatsoever. As for the HMRC, perhaps that was paid with the 60k that was in their bank account when he took over, and the 100,000k+ he raised with the risible 1899 Membership scheme which gave their fans the chance to buy one share in a company that would own Glanford Park, dream on. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
TBH Ern I'm completely ambivalent to VAR, probably because we don't have it. I've just been driving a lot this week and Talk Sport have not STFU about that single error and it occurred to me that if the player HAD been offside or had missed the chance we'd have not heard a peep. The world will not end because the VAR refs were watching the Rider Cup on their phones instead of the match they should have been.
I understand your opinion perfectly. You would rather have a team win 1-0 instead of losing 1-0 because of two wrong on field decisions by officials than have a match take a few minutes longer before it finishes.
