The legal team acting for bereaved Covid families is starting to go to work on Boris Johnson. They're asking for the months of 'unrecoverable phone messages' to be produced. They can be recovered despite what Johnson's claiming, if it was the search for a serial killer they would be ... .. and this is pretty much what Johnson is tbh. The KC for the families has said as much.
The companies that underbid to get the contract and then balloon their costs? Aye, I really feel for them not being the blackmailers for a change.....
Should never have started in the first place. We already have a link to the North which is East coast mainline. All they had to do was upgrade from York to Manchester Job done. Should have spent the money on sectional upgrades to east coast mainline and upgraded to bullet train or hyperloop would have been more cost effective and shown an ability to embrace new ideas. have said all along HS2 was a waste of tax payers money on a huge scale and is a calamitous waste of time and resource.
The word today, from Sunak, should be 'scrapped'. I wonder what grammatical gymnastics he'll use instead ... ... 'delivering' and 'levelling up' may well get hypocritical mentions
I agree somewhat with your mates not voting, A vote is a very precious commodity but we have been conditioned over years not to waste it but at the same time it is precious so why do we give it away. These politicians and political leaders promise the world and deliver nothing with falsehoods and spin speak. If they want my vote they should earn it and if they do not deliver on promises made to the country they should be removed from office. I can not think of anything worse than voting for a party because they are not as bad as the next one. Even in your statement you say you will vote Lib Dems so long as they dont commit to a deal with Labour. why not just vote for Conservative or Labour then as you are voting Lib Dem but not trusting their decision making or trusting them to form a government, that is probably as bad as not voting at all. I really should not do politics as it frustrates the hell out of me as all politicians squirm and slither around trying to make themselves relevant and on the same page as the people of the country but in reality they are almost all in it for themselves and are increasingly selfish an self justifying and the only things that constantly seems to suffer are the public and the truth
Great post mate. I have always voted on policy, and most recently on policy that has the impact for the young and old in our society. That will change a little this time as I cant see how the conservative party can deliver on whatever their policies are when they are so broken internally. It is like watching 3 different parties at times. As it stands I have no idea what Labour stand for and I dont think they do to be honest. Starmer stood on a series of pledges, most of which he has gone back on and it is not clear what is in place of them. At least with the Lib Dems I can get behing things like their social care plans. I will admit though it is also a vote to rebalance the political landscape in this country. We have found ourselves in a mainly 2 party system and they just bicker and embarass us in the main. We need an overhaul in my opinion, but the politicians wont vote for that, so having a genuine 3rd voice in parliament would be a start in my opinion.
We can overhaul it ourselves by voting in independents wherever they stand. We can't change a system where one hopeless party has a huge majority by giving the other hopeless party a huge majority.
We always get Tim Faron in here but saying that most of the voters do believe he’s doing a good job ( Lib Dem ) if we have an independent that is where my vote will go.
The problem I have is the spendthrift nature of our government be it Conservative or Labour or a mixture with LibDem is that they don't seem able to see the wood for the trees. We are taxed to the hilt in many ways and that money is spent on whatever government or local councils decide upon, when you look at taxes and stealth taxes it would be great to see where the spend goes. speed cameras for instance where do the local authorities spend this money as it is most certainly not on road safety. Council tax where are they wasting that because if you are in Sunderland you can see some developments but most of this is being done by private contractors (and before anybody asks yes I have contracted to Sunderland council and have seen first hand hoe bad they are) on top of that we have PAYE we are taxed on a beer and fuel among numerous other purchases made. the money that is supposed to go to the NHS(which is just a vast vacuum of money) these are the issues that nobody wants to bring up as they have no idea how to fix them. There are people wandering around hospitals getting paid to tell other people how to do the job they have been employed to do. The whole country is a right **** show with do gooders around every corner telling people what they can not do but nobody saying what they will do. I am proud to be British but Britain of the last 15 years or so is not proud of itself and that leaves me frustrated and sad
I disagree mate, but I'm a Labour voter and cannot see any reason for the tories to be given another 5 years.
Not sure you have read the thread right mate I was replying to a poster who said he would vote lib dem as long as they do not agree to a deal with Labour. My premise was that I agreed with his mates who were abstaining from voting as there was no party worth voting for (I have been a supporter of Labour all my life) which at this present time I agree with as I do not trust Starmer or Labour and I cant stand Rishi and the Conservatives
I find it hard to vote Labour as I don't see them changing the path the country is on, the Tories will continue to screw the country into the ground as long as they can and the LibDem will just cosy up to any side that will allow them a modicum of responsibility. like I said in my original post a vote is a precious thing and we go and vote for the best of a bad bunch when as a country we deserve better and should be voting for better and not picking the best of a group of charlatans who on the face of it are doing nothing more than posturing and arguing to gain votes instead of being real with us all and talking in the kind of language we can all understand instead of filling us with 'political speak'. Your opinion is yours mate but in my opinion our country deserves better than we are getting from all of the parties
I dont think the Lib Dems would cosy up to anyone, been there and they are in the wilderness as a result. There is talk about tactical voting and post election deals. I dont want the Lib Dems in bed with either Tory or Labour, but I mentioned Labour as they are most likely the ones to win and therefore potentially needing a deal. I would rather have the Lib Dems as the 3rd party, with 40 seats and a voice again, because I think they have something positive to say and contribute. At the minute they are not entitled to make a contribution under our system which feels wrong to me.
I don't and as I said, we disagree mate, but I'm a Labour voter and cannot see any reason for the tories to be given another 5 years.
Remember when I said Labour should be publishing policy and consulting on it? This is why. Sunak has just fired the starting gun on the General Election campaign. Expect some suitably vague 'boo tories' complaining from Labour. Caught completely on the hop here.
Perhaps he is advocating not having a government at all. To be fair that would be infinitely preferable to a bunch of of incompetent lying corrupt thieves appropriating "hard working family" tax contributions for their own benefit
