After keeping a cleans sheet against the Shrews we'll probably keep the same back 4, but listening to Charlton Live we were still quite suspect, and Isted was our MOM. Plenty of options in midfield now with Fraser back, and options up front too, with Tedic threatening Leaburn's starting place and Chuks coming along nicely. Leaburn out wide doesn't seem to me to work, with Alfie still on his own in the middle, so Mickey Apples might do a bit of tweaking.
First half agaonst Shrewsbury, CBT and Leaburn were pretty anonymous and May was a lone figure up front. It meant the ball kept coming back to the Shrews, which in turn meant we were doing a lot of defending. Might be time to give Leaburn a break and try something new. Our forward line has been the decent part of our team this season, but if Shrewsbury can mark them into invisibility, we need a plan b, even id that means just letting CBT and Leaburn swap sides. Looking forward to a game unde the lighte though - who wants Galataseray v Man Utd when the addicks meet the Grecians.
Our next three league games are all at home, hopefully we can get a decent return of points as these three games could define our season.
CBT with an equaliser after a good Aneke header. To be honest I think we've looked a lot better than Exeter (although they have opened us up at the back three times). 1-1
Assuming May is the nominated penalty taker, bang out of order Aneke taking it. If it was not for the fact May is about 3' shorter than him I'd have a word with the dude.
4-1 final score. Poor set up by Appleton to start. Woeful defending put us 1-0 down. Good work from May leads to CBT equaliser. Poor penalty from Chuks but May follows up quickest to make it 2-1. Inexplicable decision from the ref leads to a straight red for their player and then we can coast. Great finish from Leaburn for the third and great build up, run and finish from Alfie May makes it four. Red card made the big difference and don’t think we deserved to win 4-1 but Exeter were dead on their feet after that. MOM - Alfie May (you know the same Alfie May we were told that the new owners didn’t want to sign because they were going to bring in better )
All 4 of our goals came from our strikers picking up scraps and volleying home. I just love Alfie, wee man big heart.
Works so hard. Two goals, but equally helps out the defence and made a couple of good interceptions in the centre half position. Need more like him. Let’s hope the new owners will sign a few as they supposedly didn’t want to sign Alfie.
I went on the BBC to see what they thought of the red card - they didn't really comment beyond ' a red card for a lunging tackle'. However, there is a comment's section which I've never seen before on there, and I was happy to read the follwoing comment: A2C lives on!!
It's remarkable. Four league games unbeaten and the 'boo boys' (fans who are concerned that SE7 are a bunch of con men) are alienated everywhere. Suddenly nobody seems to care what the latest shyster owners are up to. We're 14th in League One and all's well in the CAFC universe. Looks like old Reamsy and his mate Charlie Methven were right all along. Nobody wants to hear any more negativity from "owner-haters". Well fair enough. Nobody will hear any more negativity from me on the subject - on this forum or any other. Not even when the whole project goes South as it did at Sunderland.
I know I'm sounding very grumpy right now. But I don't like insinuations that my deep concerns about SE7 are part of an 'agenda'. I can't speak for others but my only agenda is love of Charlton Athletic and anger when it is threatened by con-men and crooks. I'm happy that we won well on Tuesday, but not happy enough to forget everything that's going on behind the scenes. Also, I did say months ago that I wouldn't buy a new ST and wouldn't go to the Valley because of issues with the Landlord, TS and SE7. Now also my health is too poor, so I couldn't go to watch Charlton even if I had a change of heart. But I don't like the inference that I'm not a proper fan because I'm not currently going to games. I expect I'll chill out once I'm feeling better. Got some medication at last so weeks of being under the weather might be coming to an end. We all have minor spats from time to time. This will blow over I expect.
