I welcome your input, Aski. Indeed, I undeleted my live copy to find out why Struijk was out of position. Unfortunately, the tv coverage doesn't help, other than to show that Struijk was pursuing the man about to start the move from his own half. He didn't get the ball; only managed to crock him. However, Ampadu was not in the picture. He had already dropped back, as you would hope he did. The funny thing is, this pursuit of Struijk's is identical to the 'attacker' CB role for which Pontus was lauded & sadly missed by so many. Seems that they don't like Struijk doing what the manager tells him to do. Apparently he keeps going 'off reservation, according to some, but if this was a bad thing, do you really think he would be playing, given Farke's disciplinarian approach? No, he's doing what he's been told to do. The telly doesn't make this example too clear, but I think it's a safe guess that he was better positioned than Ampadu to chase after the ball, & Ampadu covered at RCB. My point is, whether it's Struijk or Ampadu, the RCB position was covered, as Rodon would have done too. But the ball came from the left & the RCB, be it Ampadu, Rodon, or Struijk would not have been able to do a damn thing about the goal. I do hope you see where I'm coming from.
If Rodon had played, it might have been Cooper at LCB anyway! If, if, if, ... If my aunt had a dick she'd be my uncle.
