He was on my radar a couple of seasons back for the Pertemps Final - qualified with a lovely 6th place but never made it to the final (I think he didn't get in off 128). He also qualified for this year's final but didn't run. Anyway the handicapper has given him a chance today by dropping him to 117 - best of luck with him. I'll be hoping Fantastikas can show us something today - dropped to his lowest chase mark ever at 126.

Pilgrim, your Westover was a right bloody nuisance yesterday! Just kidding, he ran a fine race to be second, and was easily the best of the UK and Irish entries. To think, I remember backing him when he won that first decent race at Sandown Park in a real gutsy performance. Seems ages ago now.

Must be crackers picking one at Newton Abbot, can't remamber last time I selected a winner there (if I ever did). However, keep trying is the motto:

In the 16:15, the maiden, Fortunate Fred. might at last get his head in front if he is fit from a 41-day break. The French-bred seems to be a thorough stayer, and conditions today should suit the gelding. Gavin Sheehan rides for the Jamie Snowdon yard.

5/1 (Wm.Hill/BetVictor) best price at time of writing.

'Unfortunate' Fred, finished second, so still a maiden. :(
