I am looking forward to the Anfield game. Red Boooooodison will be interesting to experience (especially if Spurs can get Lamela back on a one game loan) ,
I don't have a shred of sympathy for 'pool. They had two men sent off, justly, so paid the price. There was still around 60 minutes to play after the disallowed goal and still 10 men on the pitch. Plenty of time for them to score more. This has all been blown up once again by the media. Neville and Redknapp on SKY followed by MOTD.
I had the afternoon to myself and watched the game for the first time, I thought Porro had a great game and is starting to become a defender, words which I never thought I would say a couple of weeks ago, he's always had the pace, strength but now his positional play is starting to come on A deserved MOTM
Apparently when Cuti praised the win on social media, his Argentinian colleague McCallister commented that 'its normal when you play with 12'. Cuti responded by telling McCallister to 'go cry at home'! The next international break should be interesting....
Should've reminded him he only got in the WC squad because Lo Celso's hamstring literally fell off...
Official Liverpool statement: https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/liverpool-fc-statement-5?s=08 "We're the only club that's ever had a single bad decision in any of our games." "We certainly don't benefit from ludicrous bullshit all the time. " "We're now threatening you, so that nobody dares make any decisions against us in the future."
Did they issue the same statement after they benefited from the exact same **** up against wolves 9 months ago? No? Well I never
I don’t think Liverpool are to blame for bad decisions against them any more than Spurs are (or any other club). Whether you feel outraged depends on whether you’re on the right or wrong end of those decisions. Once again, we have technology making the decision making process worse, not better and ambiguous rules on tackling/challenging for the ball applied inconsistently and/or subjectively. The net result is that another game, which was close and entertaining at 11 v 11, descending into farce and will be remembered for the contributions of the officials, not the players. I preferred to watch the Ryder Cup this weekend (although not a huge golf fan) and am looking forward to the cricket World Cup starting this week.
The red cards were absolutely blatant reds and they should've had more. Gary Neville's a ****ing idiot and he knows this is a red, as he's complaining before it's given. He cries about the still and they show the full video of it, yet he still cries. He's just objectively wrong. It's a ****ing awful tackle. He probably had money on Liverpool, which would explain his "oh no" for the goal.
'escalation and resolution' is either just a bullshit phrase or they can only mean that they are thinking of taking legal action of some sort! 'pleeeeese, pretty pleeeeese, give us some points - and take some from those nasty London lot who must have been behind the crime!' ****ing twats!
I don’t have any sympathy for Liverpool. It’s the standard of the officiating I have an issue with. And that stems from the ambiguity of the rules and in the case of offside, the absurdity of the way in which they are applied. As for the Jones sending off, perhaps they should just ban players challenging for a loose ball. If two players go for the ball, maybe both should be sent off when a tackle is mistimed or there is accidental contact given that they both took the risk. Both players went for the ball here with an outstretched leg; both clearly go to play the ball, not the man. They both do the a same thing but Bissouma gets to the ball a spilt second earlier. One gets a worse outcome than the other because of that. One has done nothing wrong, the other is sent off for serious foul play. I’d make it a non contact sport like basketball. One team can attack unopposed; then the other team gets their chance to do so. There would be more goals I think.
Jones doesn't go to play the ball. You don't stud the ball, do you? People are outraged because they've gone along with Neville's bullshit. He makes virtually no contact with the ball and would've made none if Bissouma doesn't touch it. He's high, studs up and out of control. He could've easily and seriously injured his opponent. Bissouma is in control, wins the ball and has his studs down. They're not remotely close.
They should be charged and fined for that statement. The Laws are clear The decisions of the referee regarding facts connected with play, including whether or not a goal is scored and the result of the match, are final. The decisions of the referee, and all other match officials, must always be respected.
I accept Jones’ foot is higher but he’s not out of control. I don’t agree that his studs are raised either. He plays the ball but his momentum takes his foot over the ball - you can see that. He goes into the challenge with greater force than Bissouma, but not excessively so.The outcome wasn’t foreseeable unless you subscribe to the view that any attempted challenge risks contact with the other player. It’s like the offence of causing death by careless driving to me. The seriousness is judged by the outcome not the actions. Jones gets it marginally wrong - which should be a yellow - but is punished more severely for the outcome.
The ball doesn't alter the path of his foot significantly. There's virtually no contact. He brushes it. If he doesn't touch the ball then he just studs Bissouma slightly lower down on his ankle. What do you think that Jones is trying to do with the ball? Neville's claim that he was trying to "tackle the ball and step over it" makes no sense. He's not trying to control it or pass it, either.
