Yes we're 5th but that doesn't mean our home form has been good enough, just imagine the possibilities if we sort out the home form.... really head scratching sometime with just how happy people are to accept and defend mediocrity.
There's a difference between defending mediocrity and seeing optimistic signs that really just require a bit of confidence in front of goal ( and maybe Tufan back ASAP). I can indeed imagine the possibilities of turning the home draws into wins, and feel its closer than a lot on here clearly think
I really don't think the start to the season has been mediocre. I accept it hasn't been 'amazing' but its definitely been better than many predicted based on our summer transfer business. Based on the teams we've played, I'd never have had us with so many points as we do. There's room to improve, but to me we are showing signs of learning. The Stoke win last week was so straight forward it showed to me that this squad is adapting. Some of the passing yesterday was really good, a lot better than when Rosenior first game in. There is definite improvement. Yesterday wasn't as good as I'd hoped but as others have said, sometimes it just came down to the end product. That has been a common thing in home games, but with Tufan out and playing a midfielder as a winger (despite him scoring), we still don't have our first choice forward line out there. This season I thought we'd flirt with the play offs til the end of March and then come unstuck. At the moment, we're doing a little better than that.
God save us from the mediocrity of 5th place in the Championship. We're unbeaten at home, but we haven't been quite good enough going forward to convert draws into wins. Room for improvement is not the same as mediocrity, unless you're desperate for a stick to beat Rosenior with.
I never said the start of the season has been mediocre, I said our home form has been/is. (Look at LR overall home record since he came in and it looks even more mediocre) our away from is fantastic and I'm confident we can beat anyone on the road.
When and why / (guess) ? As I stated earlier only booing was to the ref especially after the second (?) penalty shout
Fair enough. I still think that's a touch on the harsh side though. If the form was reversed, would we be happy? Yes. I agree with you there's room for improvement at home, but at the same time - I'd still stand by my point about improvement. I haven't been to that many home games this season, but I was really impressed with what I saw compared to the end of last season. I think we're doing well.
If you actually look at my posts I've been saying how good LR has got us playing away from home and how his set up is working etc. I'm not beating him with anything. But anyone who isn't honest and fair can see and accept our home form is mediocre. Some might be happy to accept that, rightly or wrongly my standards are higher
Trying hard not to say anything critical about Rosenior to not upset OLM and co but I tend to agree. Thought his tactics and team selection was fine for the most part yesterday but that comment is poor.
If the form was reversed I'd be exactly as happy as I am now and I'd be questioning what LR was doing to address the away from as it's not working ATM. I'm absolutely over the moon we are 5th, but does that mean I'm not going to push for more and expect more when its obvious something has to change and if we could make that change we could be right up there pushing Leicester. LR has has potential to do very well both for us and for himself as a coach. But he has to bring some flexibility into his locker. He has to learn how to win games like yesterday and against Leeds for example and being rigid to the extreme isn't going to do that. I want him to do well and I want him to do well for us.
Good post. The problem I feel, is that at our potential we have shown we are one of the best. That has now brought on higher expectation (myself included). Given our quality, if we don’t make playoffs, it’ll be a real shame. That said, top 10 would be far from a disaster.
Top two are getting away from us, we could and should be much closer. I tipped us for automatic promotion, home form needs sorting and soon. On top of that winning at home brings in more fans, more merchandise sales, and a feel good factor which cannot be bought.
How many defeats though? There's a difference between needing to tweak/improve certain areas and needing to junk the way we play and go back to the drawing board as some of the criticism here is suggesting.
