Can’t remember him even touching the ball, he’s meant to be a set piece specialist and wasn’t even taking them yesterday, Morton took them all. Twine has been extremely disappointing so far and I’ve seen him do nothing in any game he’s played. Why not give sinik the last 20/30 mins who’s actually our player? He can’t do any worse than twine has and it will build him some fitness.
Did you see Delap only introduced on 62 minutes? Did you see us nearly concede from messing about at the back? Did you see the defenders ponderously pass the ball to each other while Plymouth got into defensive shape?
Yes I know he does, I never said he didnt. Purely pointing out that his best attribute is set pieces and now he doesn’t even take them.
I have said before and I’ll say again, I think Delap is the better option to start. I know Connolly is scoring the goals but Delap just offers so much more in general play, he’s much more of an outlet and better at keeping hold of the ball and taking defenders out. The majority of Connolly’s better play comes later in the game too against tiring legs. Difficult decision for the manager.
How ****ing good is Morton though?! Having seen him play a few games I’m genuinely surprised he’s not at a premier league side.
They both need to play at the same time Connolly for his knack of scoring and Delap for taking on the defence.
If we had another option to bring on I would agree but as they are the only 2 strikers at the club, their fitness really needs to be well managed and it’s probably better to have an option to bring on fresh legs and change it up a bit. Lots of ways to set up well with only one striker, it’s been the most popular way of playing for the last 15 years.
He’s not even the best midfielder at the club. Guarantee Slater will get more minutes this season, when available.
Only changes I see for Ipswich Greaves to come back in and Coyle for Vinagre. Slater will be the 1st name on the team sheet.
