You need the trait that allows you too zoom in on specific ship parts

Nice 1 bro i been tryna figure that out for days.
I've stolen them, that's easy just sneak up and board then kill everyone. In space you're supposed to kill the engines but I keep blowing the ****ers up.
Something I'm stuck on. I have to set up a link to a planet and send them a load of comm links. So I've gone to the planet and set up the link to my base then gone to my base and set up a link there but the blue indicator just sits there and does nothing and I can't link to that part of the platform?
Don't get these bases at all lol
