Just logged on and apologies if this has already been stated BUT flood warnings have been issued in Manchester and Liverpool, the Mersey has risen by at least 2 metres and scores of fish are dying from salt poisoning

The Environment Agency is concerned that another weekend like this will lead to an Environmental disaster in North West England

Thing is though mate, it's not good enough and no apology or whatever they do will make the slightest bit of difference.

Keep apologising and holding reviews resolves nowt, they've proved that time and time again. We had human error before VAR, the idea of the system was it was meant to remove human error, it hasn't.

So it needs throwing in the bin, the biggest crime here is the fact that VAR still exists, it's done more cheating in it's short lifetime, that any other sole ref would have been sacked off for by now.

We've already had past admittance of this when the ref said it was his mate, his mate ffs, this is what we are having to deal with. Sack all the VAR officials, we don't need them, bin the technology because human beings are too fooking thick to use it properly.

Let's go back to one ref, two linos and goal line technology it's all we need, and everyone knows it, someone just needs to have the balls to make a stand against it.

In the meantime I'll just keeping taking the piss and laughing my head off at the consequences of it.

    Agree mate

What are we now, 3 seasons in to VAR ? and all it's proved is that humans are fallible and make mistakes

    Which we already knew

So we don't need another layer of referreeing, which is held up to correct mistakes, but actually makes as many as the on field ref.

I think people need to accept that there is always going to be an element of human interpretation in the decision making process and accept that there will be errors. For the sake of the game, just let the on field ref get on with it.

Overall I'd still prefer to VAR than not having it, the main issue tonight was that VAR wasn't used when it should have been (the on field team gave it offside and that should have been corrected) so those opposed to VAR should be happy? Obviously I'm being facetious but I think there are fewer terrible decisions now it's just that there's fewer excuses for them happening but with the amount of media these days I think to leave it all in the hands of a referee would be to absolutely throw them to the wolves.

Fans don't help with some of the responses though. Talk of vendettas and conspiracies all boil down to fan-bases who think they're important enough to have an entire system set up to combat them doing well (and yes this week it is Liverpool fans with this sort of rhetoric but over the season it ends up being most fans, and Newcastle fans are as bad as most) - it's honestly embarrassing and pathetic for grown people to talk like that. The officials messed up and it's not good enough, it's incompetence though. Nothing more. All teams get stung by it regularly but most fans only notice it when it's against their own teams.

It was the club's and fans that moaned about the incorrect decisions and couldn't accept that it evens itself out, we now have a computer and multiple officials ****ing it up weekly. There's probably a place for technology, goal line works well but VAR has failed. To say you still want it is quite frankly astonishing.

I remember some check being done, before var was introduced and although I can't remember the extent of the sample test, but it found without var, only ONE decision would have possibly resulted in a different outcome to the games. We are get this ONE every week now, so no it's not better with it, refs for nigh on a hundred years managed without var, we don't need it, it needs slinging in the bin - you will change your view when it costs you bigtime, imagine losing the title on the last day of the season due to var, at least though it will fit with the normal outcome of Newcastle always being runners up, so i can see the mentality, never a winner and never likely to be with or without var. <laugh><whistle><ok> ok I'll get my coat ;)
