My first ever United game was actually an away game, at Burnden Park. I sat in the Lever End with my Dad who is from Bolton and watched with my snorkle jacket zipped right up in tears as we got hammered 3-0. Two Alan Gowling goals (traitor) and one from the legendary Frank Worthington.

Bolton were very good that day but I came out of the ground more determined than ever to be a red. This was late 70's, 78 or 79 probably. First home game was a 0-0 draw with Everton in 1980.

Bolton was'nt a bad away game in those days but Burnley had a **** of an away end/side shared with home fans that threw big pieces of coal during the match.

my first liverpool match was at flower lodge 1984 rep.of ireland vs liverpool. sadly my first trip to anfield was no sooner 10/11 years later. Liverpool vs Wimbledon. no roof on the newly built kop and it pissed solid for 90 mins. i didnt care that i was like a drowned rat though as we won 3-1 with barnseys goal coming thanks to the ball holding up in a puddle <laugh>

Superb. Making good use of natural resources.

I've had bricks thrown at me walking to Goodison under police escort and been punched by a copper at Anfield but the naughtiest atmosphere I ever experienced was the Baseball gound. Teeming with rain all day, a **** nil nil draw and the locals in the pen next to ours were savages. Loonies. They didn't watch the match, just cracked on they were trying to scale the fence for 90mins.
Another daunting place, outside the gound, was Ayresome park. They kept us locked in after the match for longer than the actual match!! It was a ****ing freezing day too. Stood there on an old school terrace with sharp plastic spikes along the fence staring at an empty pitch contemplating a Bernie Slaven equaliser for fully 100mins.

    Middlesborough is a grim place.

Theres plenty of drinking establishments to dry your exterior and wet your interior close to the ground though luckily enough.

Remi Moses never played up front for us. If we had a black striker it could have been Garth Crooks believe it or not, he was there briefly on loan around then.

    This will have been the season Sweats;

Chances are Crooks would have gone by then as he wasn't there long and maybe Remi had an advanced role at the time as he scored in the two games after you were there. Hughes, Stapleton and Whiteside would have been the primary forwards though.

If anyone has been to a worse 'professional' game to see as their first game I would love to know - as a kid, my uncle took me to see Raith Rovers v Stenhousemuir in 1969 <yikes>

Thank god my parents moved back to Norfolk a few years later <laugh>

i was little and just got my first neuchatel xamax shirt as a gift from a friend of my dads, and then he took us down to the stadium to watch the game. Alex Rey scored, and I got really excited since i had his number on my shirt (no names), and xamax (relatively small swiss club) beat Basel (biggest swiss club) 1-0
Was in 2001 i think, and just googled it yes it was

Great side, eh? The squad we had with Atkinson it is only his piss poor management which meant we didn't actually challenge for the league.

It was a quality team... shame it doesn't say who was on the subs bench, as I am sure sparky got a run out.

half an hour more of feeling ill in the office then off home to prepare for getting smashed tonight.

Wouldn't there have only been one sub in those days? Maybe two. I'd have thought Remi would have been CM with Robbo and Wilkins one side and Muhren on the other. Whiteside and Stapleton up front.

    Great days.

Whiteside was defo on the right as I could nearly touch him when he went steaming up the wing.. Have a vague memory of him crunching someone right infront me.. Such a shame his career was cut short, with him in the team I'm sure we would have won the league sooner.

He had no pace though, not your ideal winger. Maybe big racist Ron was playing 4-3-3 ahead of his time!

I was gutted when Norm left but he was one of the piss heads, which is why Atkinson never came close to the league. I went to Goodison and it was very strange watching him play in an Everton shirt. I started a 'Judas' chant and still regret it to this day as he wasn't really!!!

My first memory was Wimbledon vs Coventry with the Cubs!

2-0 to Coventry. Our leader was a Wimbledon fan and we all wanted Coventry to win.

I remember sitting on concrete and I think Coventy fans had a pitch invasion.

    Seems like another life ago.

    - First liverpool was 2004 against Wolves.

They were chanting Champions League you're having a laugh. We qualified and won it the following year!

Key memories were we were both poor, Diouf played, I think Owen was on left wing, and big Sami smahed a header in injury time which I predicted to the person sitting next to me! Good times.
