Europe 10.5 USA 5.5 Shame that McIlroy and Fitzpatrick let it slip over the last couple of holes, going from 1up after 16, to 1down on the last hole. Fair play to Cantlay though, he’s a top golfer. Fitzpatrick will be disappointed with his last putt which came up short of the hole when it was an all or nothing, must go in putt, but that’s golf. I think we have enough to win 4 matches in the singles.

It’s funny because we are well on top but, apart from Rory and maybe Justin Rose, it is hard to pick where the European winners will come from.
Rahm is a big game player and Scheffler was on the wrong side of the 9&7 loss so I would have Rahm favourite for that. Viktor Hovland has been on a very hot streak in recent months so could be good for a win. Rose will need to be on his best game as I think Cantlay has been their stand out player to date. Homa has been good for them as well so Fitzpatrick will have a hard game. What’s been evident is how often the pressure has got to players on both teams during the matches with fairways and greens being missed more than you would expect with the 17th hole of the last four ball being a perfect example. A straightforward par 3 and only one player found the green. Every Ryder Cup throws up an unexpected singles win or two. Hopefully they will be in our favour.
Useless fact of the day, as Rahm is lining up his drive on the 9th hole. Up flashes “The team that drives the furthest on this hole wins it 50% of the time”.
