This. I came away from that game happy. Great atmosphere, we looked really dangerous going forwards. Sure there were defensive errors but one of their goals was a great strike and we kept hitting back. I remember Charly coming on and looking good as well.
Plymouth was the our best performance, for me. Sure Norwich was fun, but you play every game that poorly defensively, and you're going to lose a lot of games. Plymouth is a hard place to go, and we did a job on them. They had hardly any decent chances, and we even limited the number of long shots they had, which we haven't done in any other game. Defending the edge of our box has been one of our biggest weaknesses so far.
Funny how we see things differently, I thought we were very fortunate to beat Plymouth and felt they were on top for most of the game and should’ve scored more. I remember saying that at the time and nobody agreeing with me though. With Martins style it feels like we are in control most of the game as we keep the ball, but ultimately as soon as there is a turnover the opposition look like they will score within a second of getting the ball
We hit the woodwork twice, and we're pretty much parked in their half when searching for the winner. QPR was the red flag for me. Like you described we dominated possession but they had far more actual clear-cut chances.
The Norwich game was very entertaining and, imo, the reason for that is because Norwich played a very open game giving us the opportunity to find gaps and hit early passes, instead of us relentlessly passing the ball to death. We need to learn how to transition from defence to attack much more quickly or we will have a frustrating season ahead, as even the weakest teams will fancy their chances by parking the bus. I expect Leeds will play an open and attacking style so we may have the odd chance or two. When watching TSP, last Sunday, I put us down to lose 0-4, but I am now hoping that we will score at least one.
We only have one player who has the balls to play those type of passes, but he speaks some unknown archaic language that no one can understand.
And plays from a land known as the ………bench, but normally the footballing god Aribo is still preferred.
I’m going to see if I can concentrate on the position our midfielders take up, as in facing their own goal or side on, when receiving the ball because I think this all too often dictates the play. We all see players who have time to turn and run or pass the ball forward who just pass the ball sideways or backwards because they have no idea what is happening behind them, because they are facing their own goal. I am also going to add that bugbear that I have about players not risking a forward pass with their weaker foot, despite there being space to play it.
Random one: anyone got any experience/tips on where to park on a matchday? Going to have to drive tomorrow - any advice gratefully received!
Iam sure there are better places but I park at Eastgate multistorey in town. Always spaces. £5 for the day, a right bargain. You can't get 2 hours for that in Canterbury.
I've used College Street car park off Threefield Lane/Marsh Lane. Need to be early, fills up quickly around 12 onwards.
Sorry I forgot it was an early ko, in my earlier response, still worth a try from 10ish though?Too much in Tenerife!!,
Radcliffe Road, [SO14 0PS], they are charging a tenner now, there is one smaller one just along the Road that charges £7.00. The only drawback is negotiating Mount Pleasant Crossing on the way out.
