Arguably, Piroe, Manning and Benda are better than their replacements.

Had an interesting chat today with someone from within the Club.

First, we discussed Duff. Apparently, keeps ‘himself to himself’, didn’t sound to me that he comes across as a people person: whereas Russ apparently is still in contact with some members of the club’s staff, routinely answering texts/WhatsApp messages.

Feeling is that the Board have backed Duff, and given him who he wanted - in particular, Humphreys who is reminiscent of Guehi so people are really hopeful that he will be the real deal - and it’s a shame that they didn’t do the same for Russ in January ……

Coming away from the conversation, I did wonder that if things haven’t improved during the next 5 games that Duff may not survive given the financial outlay made.

    Also talked about:

“Three goals in a little over four first-half minutes helped Swansea City Under-21s continue their unbeaten start to the season on home soil with victory over Hull City at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Kyrrell Wilson netted the first two Swansea goals with a pair of well-taken finishes, before Sam Parker continued his fine start to the campaign with his fourth goal of the campaign.

Thomas Woodward would add Swansea's fourth goal in stoppage time, but their margin of victory could easily have been greater, with Liam Smith hitting the post twice and Wilson rattling the crossbar.

But the final outcome was not in doubt following that flurry of first-half goals, and it is now seven wins in a row at the Swansea.com Stadium for the professional development phase side.”

The feeling is that a few of these lads will/can make it <cheers>

I think appointing Duff has been a big mistake - I just can't see what he is trying to achieve. I hope I'm wrong and he turns it around, but for me I can't see where a win is coming from, and when it eventually does come along, it will merely be a blip. We've been very poor in every league game this season, and I've not seen any glimpses to make think there's reason for optimism

At Cheltenham, this is an extract of what they wrote when he was leaving to go to Barnsley:

“He failed to win any of his first eight matches in charge but the Board knew enough of his qualities to maintain absolute faith in him and it paid off handsomely. The following season the team reached the League Two play-offs where they were beaten in the semi-final by Northampton Town but the 2020-21 campaign, much of which was played behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic, proved to be the most successful in the club’s history as the Sky Bet League Two championship was achieved and a memorable FA Cup run ended with a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City but only after Cheltenham Town had led the Premier League giants 1-0 with less than 10 minutes left.”

Huddersfield Town have sacked head coach Michael Duff following their fourth defeat in five League One matches.

Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers proved to be Duff's final match in charge as the Terriers dropped out of the play-off places with 10 games of the season to go.

Duff, 47, had been in charge for 10 months, having succeeded Andre Breitenreiter in May 2024 after Huddersfield's relegation from the Championship.

Oh dear. Seems a bit harsh though if they're contenders for the play-offs. It's a fickle old game!
