Jackson unlucky not to get a hat-trick in this game. A lot of expectation on him with no one else in the team in any kind of goal scoring form. Sanchez still looks like a very dodgy keeper to me especially given how much he cost us. I think it’s Blackburn next and with Man City out of the cup, we could reach the final - dare I say?

Not really concerned about this comp. Very nice to get a win though.
Couple of things that stood out for me.
    1. Enzo didn't play No.10, which he is hopeless at ,so Jackson had Cole Palmer in that position. That's what he's great at, so Jackson gets 2 goals on a plate from someone ( Palmer) playing where he's best. One wrongly ruled out but point made.Ngkuku ( or whatever his name is) when fit is also a natural in this position, and complimented Jackson before he was hurt preseason.
    2. Colwill played CD ,where he's best at and Chilwell played where he's best at. Mudryk improves because Chilwell works with him. Not everything came down the right side for a change.Hello !!
    3. Ian Maatsen ,one of our Poch neglected, yet better players in pre season returns and is 3 times better than Sterling. So was Broja in a 5 minute cameo. Sterling after 2 good games, is again useless and should be last picked ,not first...
My point is, Poch has been bloody awful in his selections. I'm sure he has his reasons but whatever they are players out of position rarely thrive and I hope he has seen the difference.
Despite Brighton threatening early to go over us like a steamroller, in a short time we started to show we can play, because people were comfortable playing where they play best.
Small but important step this game, hope Poch doesn't return to experiments, because he's ruining his reputation and that of the players who struggle to be what they aren't. No lack of talented players , just use them properly please.

Great write up. I’d just like to add that I wouldn’t blame Pochettino for anything at the moment due to all the injuries and players he didn’t sign. I just hope Pochettino hangs around here to make a success of the shambles he inherited. Pochettino took the Spuds to a European Cup final - I give him credit for that, he’s a quality manager that must be given time here.

That's spot on, he looks like he's under an obligation ( and he probably feels he is) to share the playing time around among too many players and certainly more than a couple of unknown quality players at that. Look at Cucurella, very poor last season, unused this season then, despite being on his "wrong" side, played really well !!
Very difficult to sort out a starting 11 as well when half your team is in the sick bay .I think it'll be towards years end before we see the best of this squad, and Poch can get them up to speed and worry the life out of the current front runners.
