Thought it was a good workout for all involved but Adil and Rusyn stood out. Hemir is a work in progress and is getting there

They look OK, nothing flash. Both had a bit of trouble with the well built derby forward.

I wouldn't say they are pushing for a first team start yet

If anyone who went tonight got a teamsheet (gold dust I know) and they don't want it, my mate would like it.

Silly sod only just mentioned it as he keeps one for every game his lad is involved in

have to say adil was the one trying hard to prove his worth, ran the midfield and could have had himself a hat-trick, hemir really needs to listen to the bench as they were constantly shouting at him to move/close down etc but he worked hard again but he needs to find his 'edge' and positioning, seelt and nectar looked capable, some good passing but i would have liked to see them getting more defensive headers, would not worry if either was brought into the first team.

rusyn just looked as if he was getting back up to speed and was already an established first teamer, 2nd half not rapid as his first half performance but this lad will cause problems for defenders anywhere imho.

Rusyn has a real swagger about him, might be reading too much into it but even walking over to Adil after the goal he just looks so confident, really looking forward to seeing him Friday

Adil Aouchiche and Nazariy Rusyn impress with Sunderland Under-21s

The summer signings both played for 70 minutes as Sunderland’s second-string side beat Derby County 3-1 at Eppleton.

Aouchiche, a 21-year-old attacking-midfielder who joined the Black Catsfrom Lorient in the summer, opened the scoring for the Black Cats shortly before the half-hour mark as he rolled home from close range following good work from Rusyn.

Rusyn, whose move from Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk dragged on through the first half of this month because of complications over his visa, then claimed his second assist of the evening a few minutes later as he broke onto a through ball from Jenson Seelt and drew a foul that enabled Ellis Taylor to score from the spot.…

There is a knock-on effect in terms of Sunderland’s academy players finding themselves left out of the Under-21 team, but Mowbray clearly feels that is a price worth paying as he looks to bed the latest batch of summer arrivals into the first-team squad.

“I think our Under-21 players know the policy and the way the club want to go,” said Under-21s assistant coach John Hewitson. “There will be sometimes when the first-team players get dropped in, and some of our Under-21s players play and will learn from that.

“They enjoy playing with the standard and calibre that the first-team players bring. It’s another part of their development.

“It’s interesting having to communicate with different nationalities, and then for the boys to get used to playing with them. It’s good and enjoyable.”
