If you dropped a striker every time he missed a chance, you'd be rotating them every game. Che has only started 4 games, and he has 3 goals and 2 assists. Not bad going. He does disappear at times, but he is also capable of producing Prem-quality moments. He would get more chances with a settled attack around him, involving Charly, Stu, and (for me) Edozie.

Yeah I left him out because it doesn’t seem like he’s done much lately. His failed move seems to have affected him.

I think we’ll see Che leave in January after not scoring many in the first half of the season.

A lot will be resting on Stewart’s shoulders. Let’s hope the season is not lost by then.

I suspect the intention is to sell Che in January once Stewart is up to speed (hopefully), rather than him leave for nothing at the end of the season.

Yeah. Would have preferred us to have signed an up and running striker and just let him go.

SAA has impressed when coming on as a substitute but the league game when he started he wasn’t as impressive and subbed off at HT.
I’m kind of pleased that he has been shielded from the crappy performances of late.

Yeah I agree. I think at his age and stage of development he is a great weapon to have coming on. It has taken Edozie a while to become a starter. Though RM keeps putting others in front of him

A suggestion to help the players to move into the right position to receive the ball might be to sit them down and give them a crash course in trigonometry.
I get frustrated at watching players take themselves out of the game through poor positioning which then leads to the loss of the ball when someone tries an impossible pass.
One specific moment that I noticed on Saturday involved Holgate and Downes.
Holgate had the ball out wide and was moving forward with it. There was a Boro player 5 yards inside and slightly ahead of him, cutting off a diagonal ball towards Che(?). A second Boro player was also about 5 yards inside but behind and cutting off a pass back to Bedders.
Downes was 10 yards inside, slightly ahead, running parallel to Holgate BUT had put himself in a position where a pass to him would be easily cut out by one of the Boro players. I was actually shouting at the screen for him to just ease off his pace to open up a passing channel but he just kept matching the Boro player giving Holgate no one to pass to.

It is strange how we calmoured for Adams and Smallbone prior to the commencement of the season yet boith have disappointed so far.

Both looked good when the team looked good. Harsh to say they've disappointed.

Yeah biggest disappointments have been Manning and Downes. Thought they were going to be far, far better than they've turned out.

20% of the team then. But like playing 90mins with 9 players every week. Might have thought a manager to have spotted that!!

Well they're not that bad, haha. But I just think it's been bad luck. Both were excellent at their previous clubs.

Downes went from Rice, Paqueta and Soucek, to Smallbone, Adarma and Charles.

Not convinced by Manning, but Downes would be fine in a proper team with proper tactics and a proper manager.

Wasn’t Manning is the championship team of the year last season? He’s certainly not shown any of that level here.

He was. The same as above applies (just at a slightly lower level of capability than Downes).
