I’d have the common sense to sign players in positions we’re crying out for, ie DM and CB. We’ve signed so many players in positions we already have covered and now can’t field them all. We’ve got about 5 players who can play as the more advanced midfielder yet not a single DM. You have to wonder if having a DM in there would protect the CB’s more than they are now?

But if we’re to continue with 2 at the back which is better for us IMO then as I said before I’d play Triantis - only because I haven’t really seen anything of Seelt whereas I’ve seen a bit of Triantis. Seelt is a big lad and I don’t know if he’s quick enough to play the high line.

Someone mentioned Triantis having a mare for the U23s - forgetting O’nien getting absolutely tortured by South Shields in pre-season?

Of course I’d celebrate if he scored? He’s still a Sunderland player who gives his all for the club and I respect that. As a bloke you couldn’t ask for a better person and his story to get where he is now is brilliant. I just don’t think he’s good enough as a footballer to be starting for us at CB.

I’ve just shown you him being torn a new one by Blackburn but you’re unwilling to accept it so what do you want me to do? Definitely didn’t get dragged out wide against Rotherham for their goal either. Nor did Ipswich play a simple ball in behind him in which Hirst scored from. And it most certainly wasn’t him cuddling McGuiness for Cardiff’s goal.

Dan Neil is playing as DM. The system we play allows movement of full backs into there. Ballard and O’Nien venture forward, the team shifts accordingly.

but I will ask again, as you completely avoided the question as I don’t believe you can answer it, who, currently fit, would you replace O’Nien with and based upon what?

renember, Tony Mowbray, a former professional defender, appears to rate this lad you are blaming for basically every goal we’ve ever conceded I think! So I’d love to know why he’s wrong and you’re seemingly blatantly right. Or are you saying Triantis based on a pre season friendly performance by O’Nien?

You should tell Tony. He obviously missed it!! The entire team started poorly. He was not alone. Clarke provided zero cover first 25 minutes, as per Mowbray’s post match. Meaning Huggins and O’Nien had all the work to do. Makes the defending much tougher when the others aren’t pulling their weight

Yeah that's why you never shut up about how you don't rate him. I feel sorry for you.

Sorry mate, I only said Triantis about 5 times in my last comment so I’ll say it again? Triantis. The natural CB who’s quicker, taller and better in the air than O’nien. And no, I haven’t only watched him in a friendly. I watched him a few times for CSM when I heard we were interested.

I remember saying Leicester would walk the league before the season started and a few of you were saying they wouldn’t, Southampton would be the ones to watch etc who was that again?

So why are we 8 points behind Leicester after 8 games if our players are as good as some of you make out?

You come across as a right bellend mind. What is wrong with people being optimistic about our players? Nearly every fanbase claims they have a great squad, not just us. You seem to take more joy in being right than you do Sunderland winning. Very weird.

What do you want me to say when someone asks me a question and I answer it numerous times in the same comment then their response it “why are you dodging my question” which I’ve just blatantly answered, all whilst some daft **** posts boring memes because he has absolutely no basis to the point he’s trying to make :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I’ve never once said we don’t have a great squad. I’m just adult enough to accept some of our players aren’t as good as people make out. It’s not just O’nien, Roberts is another. People going on like he’s the second coming of Messi when he’s a top half championship winger at best.

Based on what? Who are CSM? And in what league do they play? I have no idea but I reckon it’s probably equivalent to league one if it’s Aussie.
As for the “if some of our players are as good”. We’re 8 games in!
never said you only watched him in a friendly, said you would put him in because O’Nien was rubbish in one which is literally your phrasing.

You’re exhausting. Impossible to speak sensibly to as your opinions are based on your dislike for one of our players. I do feel sorry for you on that.
Luckily Mowbray is responsible for picking the team and not you. My guess is, he’s a lot more clued up than you are

Ok then so say you’re right - why go and spend money on him if he’s not even good enough to play in his natural position ahead of a lad who’s spent the majority of his career as a L1/L2 midfielder? It’s a good job managers never mistakes or pick their favourites, I was almost starting to think we wouldn’t piss the league for a minute there.

My opinion is based on what I watch week in week out, nothing else.

You dodge stats like a fly dodging an open door. Plenty of evidence that your opinion is wrong but you can't/won't face up to it.

Yet all of the last 2 and a bit seasons as a centre half. And has been coached as a centre half by the club. Not saying Mowbray hasn’t got stuff wrong, but if it was “all Luke’s fault” *not a direct quote but basically all you’ve said this thread, he wouldn’t be playing. Especially if “Bobby Moore meets Virgil Van Dyck” Triantis is as good as you appear to think he is.

What if he comes in and is terrible? Will that be oniens fault too?

I’m not saying he’s a world beater by any means whatsoever. I haven’t seen enough of him to say that. I’m asking why we’ve brought someone in if he can’t even get a game over a lad who’s played the majority of his career as a midfielder in the lower leagues - baring in mind we’ve actually spend a lot more on Seelt as well.

He’s had half a season in the championship at CB because we were riddled with injuries. He’s hardly an accomplished CB.

Because the club rates O'Nien, it's not a ****ing riddle. Seelt and Triantis are for the future but for now Luke is our senior CB with Ballard as his understudy.

You could’ve just said you have absolutely nothing to contribute and put yourself to bed.

“You are wrong cos I said so” would’ve been a better argument.
