I went to this fixture last season.

We go 0-2 down and St Mary's turns toxic, hassenhutl, you don't know what you're doing........you're getting sacked in the morning.......

    That went well!!

I went to this too. My third game at the stadium since it opened. Previous games were loses, so the draw was an improvement on them. Not going this time, so I won’t jinx it.

The only other home games I made last season were Wolves at home where we lose to 10 man wolves after scoring first. St Mary's turns toxic. Jones you don't know what you're doing......you're getting sacked in the morning.....

And then Fulham at home. Another defeat. St Mary's turns toxic. Selles. You don't know what you're doing...

    Maybe I should go Saturday

If he sticks with charles, downes and smallbone i dont see us doing a thing going forwards.

All 3 are specialists at passing the ball backwards; there is no balance. Fine to have 1 or 2 of them but not all 3.

Obviously its crying out for Alcaraz but he doesn't get a look in

Those were the days. Back when it looked like Mara was going to be the next KDB or Hazard.

(Although if it is a thing he has about only playing well in home games vs City and Leeds, that might be a good omen.)

And yet people keep saying Smallbone needs to play further forward and, if Che could shoot, he would have several assists by now…

I think it’s very difficult to pick out individuals when the whole team is playing so badly

    Only improved player is Edozie
Stu and Charlie always improve us when or if they come on. They should all be starting

I do think Smallbone should be further forward, Charles and Downes protecting the back 4

Im sure we’ll lose this whatever, but some improvement would help a little

    2-2

    Piroe hat trick incoming.

That’s ok though because we’ve got Ross Stewa… oh.

I think you need to have a more progressive midfielder in there. Charles, Downes and Smallbone all just like to make short passes. None drive forward with the ball. We've also seen that playing all 3 doesn't make us anymore solid and we still cough up mistakes and good chances for the opposition regularly. So we may as well play someone more progressive and try to carry more of a threat ourselves. We also need to try and have some consistency and so should persist with Charles and Downes as a pairing imo as they have the greater potential. Alcaraz or Stu ideally play in the third spot as both can carry the ball, play an incisive pass and shoot. I wonder if Fraser could play that role too.
Still think we'll lose by 3 or 4 but at least it's a 12:30 KO so it's over and done with relatively early in the weekend...why did I buy a season ticket :emoticon-0112-wonde

I realise my last post implied I wanted Charles, Downes and Smallbone in the middle. If they are I want Smallbone further forward BUT I'd rather have Charlie/Stuey there, as you say :emoticon-0148-yes:

Same for me but Che instead of Adarma, and Edozie starts over Fraser.

Has Che made any significant contribution to a match where he started?

Assisted on Sat and for Edozie against Leicester.

The service he is getting is dreadful. Yet again. Aimless crosses and nothing else.

Edit: And got the winner against Plymouth. So involved in our last three goals.

Pretty sure he missed a fairly simple chance to make it 2-0 at the weekend? I don't know. He doesn't look on it to me, but he should be our best forward by a mile so will bow to your thigh-inspired judgement.

Che for me too. When you look at it like that, it’s really simple. SAA/Sulemana to come on at 60 or so.

SAA being cast adrift is more confusing to me that Alcaraz as it is no risk at all to bring on a clever winger for 20 minutes, even if you are worried about altering CM.

When was the last time we put a good cross in the box for any of our strikers?

    Just never seems to happen

In a run against form, Saints squeak this one 1-0, a Smallbone header from a corner ten minutes into the second half. Despite several nervy moments at the back - including Piroe missing a sitter - the lads hold on to run out winners.

Hey, the universe allows for all possibilities until observed, so there must be a universe where Saints win a game!
