See the Mackems (who even beat Cardiff at home) are crying on their board. Levels lads. Being a **** Championship club with no future must really hurt.
What a week! 7 points across the three games 9 goals scored 3 clean sheets Nervy first 15 mins or so but once Gordon came on and the first goal went in completely changed the game! If we can put a few more of those performances over he next few weeks in the EPL and a few more defensively solid performances in the cups I'll be very pleased!
Handy one on Wednesday! Here's my team Martin Dúbravka Livramento Lacelles Botman Targett Murphy Tonali Miley Anderson Hall Isak
Agreed - was not keen when we signed him and second half of last season was even more baffled but he's settled in now he's flourishing. Similar to Bruno where he couldn't get a start for 8 games or so and then once he's settled and understand his role he's a top player in our team. Think it also goes to show we need some patience with players like Barnes and the two young full backs as they get up to speed with our game plan and tactics.
Thought people discrediting the signing had simply never seen him play tbh. Against us he was absolutely on fire. He caused our back 4 no end of problems and Everton were particularly poor that day. Thought the signing was a no brainer
Always thought he was a ratty diving scouser He looked ok at Everton, not great and no one can honestly say hand on heart he was the big money signing they were expecting or wanting - was better known for diving than his football ability at Everton. Now he seems to have cut out the diving (how was that not a pen yesterday (with a VAR check)?), so love him to bits now and if he keeps progressing and turning out performances like the last few weeks £40m will be a snip for him. Was probably worth £20-30m when we bought him but the scouting team clearly saw the potential and paid over what he was worth at the time for that potential and it seems to be bearing fruit now.
Chelsea (hardly a great barometer) were offering £60m. His head turned, he dropped, we got him for £45m. That was still too much - I agree, £30-35m was probably right but at the moment it looks like a £45m steal.
It's the fitness thing i think, Howe must work them like **** on the training ground, and you see the results of it on the pitch. He is looking sharp as anything and is absolutely rapid, he was skinning their right back all game.
It was obvious yes I remember saying Newcastle should buy him before he was linked. Ben10 agreed where is ben10 btw?
