I've nothing to add. Things are going very well. Confidence is high in the squad and it's showing on the pitch and in results. Recruitment looks top notch (apart from a ****ing left back) but we've not seen Gruev yet. I'm guessing he is more of an Ampadu cover?
So, were Watford awful or were they made to look awful by an outstanding performance (same applies to Millwall and, for long periods Hull)? I think the latter!
Agreed, and I think teams know we have 4 players up front who can individually harm them, and collectively, destroy them. Opposition are starting to fear us and pay too much respect, long may it continue. I fancy an FA cup run too now
Yep, Millwall and Watford are/will be two top half sides in my view and were made to look very average. Most promising thing re Watford was turning promising positions into actual chances which in previous games we haven’t done so much.
Yeah we made a very good team look poor. Ipswich, Milwall, Watford will be near the top 6 and Watford may even go close because they have a goal scorer. Too easy to just say we had a bit of luck, no we battered these teams and they had no answers. Well done FARKE and FarkeBall
Agree on Millwall and Watford (and, likely Hull) Bud I was wowed with the performance live on Saturday but I was also thinking yesterday, it was great that the players didn't alter the mentality after going in at Half Time 0-0 when 3-0 would have been fair. Especially for a pretty young team, we didn't start rushing things, hitting it long or snatching at chances and passes, we just kept on doing the things that had created the chances and dominance in the first place. Even after we scored, there was no hesitation, more of the same and it paid handsome dividends. I really hope that has set the standard for the rest of the season and, if so, we will be there or thereabouts. My only concern is that Ipswich and Leicester are extremely efficient too so it needs one or both of them to have a few blips before we are really in it (I know it is early days but Leicester look ruthless and we are the only team to beat Ipswich since January).
I really liked the chemistry between Ampadu and Kamara. I thought they were great. I'd also say that Kamara is a lot better (at least at the weekend) than previously reported by the press
I posted elsewhere - in our first 8 games we’ve played 3 of the top 8 (none could beat us), 4 of the middle 8 in the table, and only 1 of the bottom 8. And we’re in the top 6 with only 1 defeat (a game we’d win tomorrow if we could replay it). we were in disarray at the season start so despite this, to be where we are, augers well.
No, Watford were as useful as an AA meeting with Shako. One fan summed it well, saying Watford gabe Leeds far too much respect, treated them like they were Barca.
Actually I typed Millwall but meant hull - thought we played better at hull but took our chances at Millwall personally! I’m not worried about the gap. Its a long season I think Leicester will stay the course after their good start. I thought Ipswich would do well but not as well as they have, may still be a promotion bounce going on (we hope!) - to be honest they should really have beaten us as well. As you say fella let’s hope Saturday sets the standard and we’re in for a good season regardless
I think I posted a while back in discussion with Stonkin that I thought it was a difficult start we had. On paper at least next month looks ‘easier’ . Doesn’t always pan out like that of course - and wouldn’t be Leedsy if it did.
If I was Archie Gray then I would stay with us for a few years to develop. I certainly not be looking at Citeh or Chelsea. I would screw up his development
I'm just buzzing this week things are settling. Farke is starting to make his stamp on the squad. Ok its not the Prem but still it's a hard league and to be honest we have bullied most teams we have played so far. Just wished Spence hadn't crocked himself as the only problem i see in our squad at present is the fullback positions. We need to keep Sambo fit and once we get Spence back up to speed things will go even better. As on Archie he aint going anywhere till at least new year anyway so for me it's not even worth talking about. I also agree with someone above he still needs to learn alot before he can establish himself as a prem player and playing week in week out in the Championship will certainly do that. I don't think he will go anywhere this season and maybe only if we don't go up it could be something on his agenda. he has to graft now and continue to improve it all depends what he wants doesn't it. yes he can go to a prem club but he won't figure week in week out look at Phillips went to the best team prob in the world at the moment and its all nice getting a top wage and winning trophy's and medals but deep down he will know he hasn't played a major part in what the club has achieved. His career is at a standstill and I bet deep down no matter what's he won he's upset he's not playing competitive football ok some love it collect a wage do nowt but I'm fairly sure Phillips is not one of those players. he will be hurting he's not playing on a weekend. My wish this season is for us to go up and all those loan runaways come back next season struggling with their careers (yes maybe it would hurt the club financially) but returning to the prem will bring extra finance and we can still wave them on their way. MOT bring on the saints at the weekend let's enjoy the ride because my god do we deserve it.
Not that anyone is interested but with Rodri getting a red card plus a 3 game ban at the weekend Phillips might actually get some game time.
Losing on penalties at Salford now looks like a decent outcome with this midweek free before we play 6 League games between 30th September and 28th October. Big month coming up.
