Good Morning. It's Monday 25th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds destroy sorry Watford Leeds recorded their first league victory of the season at the weekend, with a comprehensive display over a Watford team, with little to cheer about. It's been a long time coming; the Whites hadn't won at home (in the league) since the beginning of April. The visitors tried to make things difficult, by getting ten men behind the ball, but once deadlock was broken, the flood gates opened. In truth, Watford were awful, and put up about as much fight as a Russell Brand appreciation society, as Leeds battered the Hornets into submission, in one of the most one sided games you'll see this season. The Elland Road faithful had to wait until the 67th minute to break the deadlock. Dan James broke clear down the right channel, and delivered a superb cross to the back post, where Piroe had arrived from nowhere to grab his fourth of the season. They doubled their lead just three minutes later, when Byram headed home James' corner, followed by a third, a few minutes from time after Rutter sliced the Watford defence wide open, to give Jaidon Anthony a one on one with Bachman, and he didn't disappoint. please log in to view this image We totally dominated this game - Farke After the game, during his post match presser, Leeds Manager Daniel Farke couldn't hide his elation with three valuable points, a forth clean sheet in a row, and a dominant display, which saw the Whites climb to 6th in the table:- "That we returned to the dressing room with a clean sheet is for me the most pleasing topic today." "Obviously it's a great result for us, great performance. Even in the first half I was so, so happy because we totally dominated this game, we created so many chances in the first half; didn't allow them to have one chance. It was hard for them to get a touch in our half. "Second half we were able to convert our dominance into great goals, we could have scored perhaps a few more." "But we then also showed the discipline to stay concentrated and focused. Although we would have won the game anyway, we had the greediness, when it was 2-0, to bring it over the line. "Illan [Meslier] was not much involved today but in the 95th minute he had to be there with a save to stay that concentrated and focused." please log in to view this image Leeds face fight to keep hold of Gray Leeds face competition from a host of top flight outfits including Everton and Crystal Palace, to keep hold of rising star Archie Gray. The 17yo England youth International has been in devastating form since breaking into the Leeds line-up this season, and has obviously caught the eye of many scouts, looking to make a fast buck. He penned a two and a half year contract, days after his 17th birthday back in March, and has not looked back. He has progressed within the club’s academy system since the age of eight, and was selected in the first-team Premier League squad at the age of 15, being named on the bench for a home match against Arsenal in December 2021. He Captained the England Under-16s when they beat France to win the Val-de-Marne tournament in November 2021 and now wears the Captain's armband for the National Under-17s. please log in to view this image
Morning all. To be honest Archie Gray whilst being a wonderful prospect with many great attributes is still a couple of years away from being a top player. Careful nuturing and development is definitely required for him to elevate his game to the point where he's at an elite level. Probably most important is keeping him fresh and not too restricted in his play. Just look how Georginio was able to express himself on Saturday as an example of where Archie needs to be, but he won't get there if he's overplayed and coached towards a safety first approach to playing the game.
Morning all Great win, clean sheet, three different goal scorers and one being the sub, nice to have a bench that can make a positive difference
Archie Gray is special and I’m sure his agents won’t allow him to go to Everton ffs. His dad is part of the agency which has loads of Leeds academy players and graduates and has been going well since he had Gary Speed on his books and David Batty. Archie’s dad and Charlie Cresswells dad are part of the agency and also ex Leeds players. Sending a young kid to a failing club like Everton or down to London to play for Palace is crazy. No wont happen
Lewis Cook average PL jouneyman pro when he could have been top class is one example of moving too early and then been coached to play in a restricted style. The lad had a great all round game but it's now just backwards and sideways all day long. Archie has more talent but he needs to be able to showcase that and not play with fear. Difficult balance to strike which is why his next couple of seasons have to be about development as his body adds strength and the ability to drive forward in possession increases.
Jamie Redknapp recently said he is the best young midfielder he has seen in years, and will be a “future England star”. The Athletic have reported that Manchester City have shown interest in signing Gray from Elland Road. Gray’s agent Hayden Evans has spoken on the future of Gray – who has signed a new deal until June 2025. He says that Gray wants to be at Leeds and there is no concern over his future given just how young the midfielder is.
Only team in four leagues not to concede a goal in September so far and people want rid of Meslier . Anyway just enjoying the results these days. Not bothered about Archie or any of the rest being sold as they will be as soon as the big offers arrive. Just a case of how many seasons we can get out of the better players before moving
So at the end of this season he'll only have 12 months left on his contract. Doesn't sound so great now does it.
Good morning from zakynthos and leeds best signing this season orchestrated our game v Watford... Take a bow Daniel Farke.
Or it might be something to do with barely having any shots to face. He’s done well, but he’s had fck all to do.
