Had to go to the claw grip about 20 years ago and that's sort of done the trick. Still a bit of a bugger with the longer stemmed wine glasses though
last year they were all punished Jambo... no confidence and bad luck that seems to get ingrained in sides that are struggling. This year, with a lower class of opposition the chances against aren't all taken, confidence improves and with that you start to get the breaks more too.
i can cope with people messing about with their grips but once they go to any derivative of a broom handle/anchored cheat stick it's beyond the pale.
never a truer word… and why I don’t play for money Mind you, to be fair, my driving’s pretty patchy too
Don't want to spoil the mood but as it stands we'd still be getting hammered in the PL with this squad.
Probably bud, let’s hope we keep losing in the play offs every year. Will keep the natives happy with consistent winning seasons. let’s be honest the standard in the champ this year is gash. Preston top of the league.
Likely yes but not relevant. We’re a quality championship and might never be a pl cub butwhocareswhen we can string four games together and nothing conceded
Yes, go to a practice area, every one is trying to bomb drives, Short game, especially around the green and putting will benefit your game more.
That’s very true. I know it, understand it and believe it. Then I go to the range and smack 200 balls as hard as I can
I'm not a golfer, but me & my dad used to be quite competitive at the pitch 'n' putt. We'd be even going into the 18th, hoping for a hole in one to finish under 200! Never happened. The reason I mention it is that one day they only had left-handed clubs. Hated every minute of it as I had to really concentrate for every shot. I did go round in under 100 that day. I kid you not! There was no real power in my shots, but my accuracy was something else for the first time ever. Then it was back to having fun with the normal clubs ..... Someone once remarked that I'd prolly play better with a short scaffoling pole. Personally, I think I'd be better if I kept my eyes open.
When I was learning to play, best advice I ever had, was from a guy called Joe Cockcroft, who had played in goal for Chester sometime before the war, and held the local golf club record of 9 holes in one. After a disaster of a round, including scoring 16 on a par 5, he told me next time to just play with a 5 iron, a pitching wedge and a putter. When I tried it bettered my previous score by 30 shots and scored under 90 for the first time ever. Basically I played "ladies golf", keep it straight and accurate and forget about distance. Played like that until I was able to gain a handicap and is also probably the reason I still tee off using my 1 iron for most holes, as I can't hit a wood shot for love or money
Which is great to see even though i tried to watch on my buffering mobile as it was too hot to walk to the sports bar. rutter needs to improve his finishing though. Enjoying this league everyone?.. Knew you would.
Now I play seniors golf one of the lads (87 yo) never hits greens in regulation as no distance, but gets on and close and usually putting for par. He doesn’t have a wedge in his bag or a wood 5,7,9 and putter. Best bump and run player in the club. I admire anyone who uses a 1 iron Aski as I was struggling trying to get my 5 iron going and had to take a lesson. The pro said that to get long irons airborne you need to generate clubhead speed, even now it can be the worst club in my bag. So using a 1 iron or driving iron jeez…
