A lineup I was reasonably happy with and still a woeful performance. Points to dreadful tactics and management.
Will be something along the lines of trust the process. I do kind of get it, he was clearly identified and hired for the brand of football he plays, and it’s only been 8 games. But obviously the results have been **** in the main and his style looks like it could take ages to drill into this set of players to get results and we are “all in” now to go up this year. As others have said before if you look at the squad it is just as talented as any other in this league so just getting in a manager who looks to play quite a simple style that the players can just slot straight into should yield a pretty successful season. Martin is playing to a very extreme and, whilst it might come good further down the line, it also might not so it seems a crazy risk persisting with it.
I think he’s got to go. Why play Holgate only to change at half time? Why leave Edozie, our one consistent threat out? Why not find a way of getting Alcaraz and Sulemana to play for you? too many questions for me. Out.
Id like to come play with your Sunday team sometime, sounds like they are quality as half the Saints players in recent years couldn’t get in it

It's like "Carry on football" but without Sid James (although he would start ahead of Alcarez) The club have a real knack of picking diamond in the rough managers though, would anyone take postman Pat if SR have the courage to admit that once again, they have royally ****ed up? Jess could be DOF.
Also really ****ing pleased we let JWP go on the cheap to get RMs golden boy Downes who looks perfect to play pedestrian football with no threat along side Smallbone who could win awards for his pedestrian-ball.
Yeah Manning and Downes were RM's personal choices. Downes does nothing and Manning is worse. Doesn't bode well for Ross Stewart. 100% got to sack Martin. Get in anyone else.
Martin continually talks about bravery and how the players’ mistakes are down to them not being brave enough. Well today the biggest bottler was Russell Martin. We have gone to the team that was rock bottom of the table and depleted of confidence and instead of picking a team to get at them Martin has chosen a team bereft of flair players and picked a team that he thought wouldn’t lose. Talk about handing the initiative to the other team. We absolutely must find room for Alcaraz and/or Stuart in the starting line up to give us some unpredictability and I don’t think Fraser offers more than Edozie.
I bet Carrick wouldn't be too hard to get... The manager we should have got to begin with?! Before they were ripped to pieces this summer they played some pretty delightful football.
Imo the other problem is that I don’t see this style working with the players we have, no matter the time thrown at it. Even if it does come with time, Blackmore said before the game ‘ok it might take time but do the results have to be bad along the way’ I very much agree with that sentiment, it’s not an excuse for poor results.
Yeah I wanted Carrick in the summer, this season was always going to be tough for Boro losing so many. At least SR were clever and cunning in their pursuit of a footballing purist. **** to watch, but that spreadsheet look might fine.
