    My point exactly

If you get to the stage where violence cannot be avoided, then its any means necessary

Your opinion would count for **** in a court of law though. The judge isn't going to say "well the bloke's dead, but he called your mummy a slut so he deserved it. Case dismissed."

Maybe it's a cultural/religious thing then, because nothing anyone could say would cause me to willingly abandon them for over half their childhood.

Me neither. I remember being told when I was younger that "every action has a consequence".

Not sure if its ALL religious/cultural tbh

As i said i never go looking for trouble and have walked away from it when it was just me

But to me my role as husband father brother son etc has responsibilities
If that leads to a jail term (I have no intention of going to jail by the way) so be it

nothing to do with bravado or being 'hard' etc

Give em a crack. I wouldn't kill them though. I think my wife/son would prefer that the insult was not punished with death and me carry on living with them. In fact, I think most sane people would agree.

My family can protect themselves and it's easy rise above insults. Not many people in this world spit on someone for no reason so I'm really not expecting it anytime soon.

If you're in jail though, you're not there to protect your family against future insults. Or worse. How are you fulfilling your responsibilities if you're not providing for them financially or protecting them from real danger because your in prison? Is avenging insults a father's most important duty, at the cost of all else?

I wouldnt set out to kill them either dude

and I would agree with the above. what i am saying is that i would give them a crack too. In the process if they died its on them for starting ****
not saying i wouldnt feel remorse either, I just wouldnt walk away same as you wouldnt

My conclusion is that if someone insults a family member, knocking them on their arse is enough. Kicking them when they're down is unnecessary for 3 reasons-

    -It's morally wrong
-It could get you in a lot of bother
-It almost implies cowardice ie you want to keep them down because you're scared of what they'll do if they get up. If you're a man, you shouldn't be frightened of getting hurt.

depends on the person, remember its a fight now so no going back. If knocking them on their arse is enough then so be it
although tbh it would depend on the severity of their actions.

I dont understand people who go for the morality/cowardice argument. If you were scard of getting hurt you wouldnt engage them in the first place

Once it kicks off then the idea of a fight is to make sure the other fella loses. If he is down and stays down he loses

I suppose you are agianst biting etc too?

As far as I am concerned once the fight begins there are no rules as such

Absolutely. But when he's down there is no need to add any further injury to him. It's about self preservation and limiting the damage to yourself. It's not about inflicting damage to him.
