Tom cat. How did you manage to get through the last 10 days, not having the opportunity to jump in with your stupid replies as soon as I post. I can always rely on an idiot to reply and you never let me down.
Thanks to those who took the effort to reply politely and respond to my questions. I will just **** off back to my own board and worry about Norwich City imploding and failing miserably in the PL again this season
don't forget to keep your eyes on the scottish game thai and you can see celtic failing miserably in the SPL again this season as well
The Scottish Premier League would be more competitive, but would find it difficult to attract large funds from sponsors and TV. The same for the English Premier league, if the big six left, and the games were something like Norwich v Wigan, Fulham v Swansea.
I would be inclined to agree the PL would also suffer but I do not think to the same extent. With the exception of Wigan, QPR & Blackburn, most other teams currently in the PL are capable of attracting 20,000 - 25,000 crowds even when they are not winning things. I would like to think that even without the TV revenue (and let's be honest, us 'lesser teams' do not get anything near what the 'top teams' get) some sort of decent league with a decent standard could be maintained.
Yes but Fifers have 2 heads and are from a different planet not even stirling would be associated with them manky bastards.
what chance as a wee nation , have we got competing against epl teams, today Man city recorded a 200 million loss for last 12 months
Thai as a supporter of a non in firm team the spl won't implode and will survive on an albeit smaller budget. If you were to ask the majority of spl team fans they would welcome the exit of the in firm despite the repercussions. Also again despite what has been stated here they don't pay the wages of the players TV and sponsorship does.My teams balance sheet showed that last year gate money accounted for less than 30 percent of turnover and the in firm fans attendances have been falling year on year.KIllie are not in a good position due to overspending in the 90's but would survive.I don't know about the rest of the SPL teams so why not post on general chat for a more balanced view
Same old what TV money do you think you'd get if the Old Firm left, roughly the same as the Welsh league thats how much, its not just about gates without the Old Firm there is no TV contract.
Thai as a wee diddy team fan the answer to your question is yes the spl would survive albeit on a more restricted budget.THe glasgow two get 35 percent of any tv money as it is the rest get the scraps that's just the way the spl is structured but to state we would all go under is basically untrue.MY team KIlmarnock are suffering from overspending in the 90,s and despite the claims on here that we need the old firm to survive we have done so.last years accounts show that gate money accounts for just under 30 percent of income with the glasgow two supplying 25 percent of that so claims that we rely on them are unfounded. Year on year the number of Glasgow fans attending RUgby Park has fallen (the last game of the season may adjust that point this year) try asking the fans of the other teams your point on varying forums to gather a more balanced viewpoint on the state of the game up here
ok, it's interesting to read how non OF supporters think too . I did suspect non OF fans would probably like to see the back of the big 2 for fairly obvious reasons (cannot compete - it's ok lads, the PL is going that way too now)
