Various things spring to mind in response. No particular order. 1. Too early to assess this season. We are only 5 games in. Far too early to determine if progress has been made or not this season. 2. Again to early to decide if the transfer window was good or not. Bruno didn’t play from day one nor did Isaak. Firstly, why expect different for Hall and Livramento? They, or more possibly Hall, could potentially play quite a bit this season. Only time will tell. Secondly, all non NUFC reports I have read (probably about 3/4) which looked at all PL clubs transfer windows were non critical of our window. I agree. Not a great window but most definitely not a poor window. Throw in FFP and the constraints associated with it and it is clear that we can’t just buy who we want when we want. We have cleared out some poor players already but it all takes time. Existing players are on contracts and I guess relatively high wages. It’s not easy to get them out to free space for new players and even if one is got out then better players usually require even higher wages and FFP comes in to play again. 3. We beat Brentford. It wasn’t lucky. It wasn’t a sparkling performance but Brentford weren’t at the races. Brentford were also unbeaten going into that game and no mugs. 4. Healthy debate is good. But both sides have to be realistic and put things in perspective. I have no problem with your opinion I just find that you regularly fail to take any or all of the constraints that we have to work under into consideration when expressing a view. You ignore the realities that not even Man City, Liverpool etc play at 100% all the time but expect us to. If we were, say, 19 games in and we hadn’t played well and were stumbling along and so on, then fair enough start being concerned. But 5 games? 5. I don’t think I have called anyone stupid or delusional (possibly tempted on the delusional) but was simply expressing my frustration at how some obvious facts, at least to me, are constantly ignored, missed and overlooked when we don’t play like 1970 Brazil in every game by some including you when we aren’t 1970 Brazil. For Chaos. The reference to all we ever wanted was a Club that tried was an attempt at sarcasm. That’s all I genuinely want. Of course I would love to see us win something but so long as we try I will accept what happens. I know a lot of people said it but clearly didn’t mean it. Anyway rant over……….for now.
1. Somethings off. End of. 2. Not really. £110m spent on a young lb who is third choice, a rb we didn’t need and a bang average lw we didn’t need looked stupid at the time and is looking stupider with each passing game that none of them play. 3. My bad, we did beat Brentford - with an undeserved penalty, a deserved disallowed goal and a huge nod to a sitter missed. 4. Five games and struggling against every team that’s a bit stronger is worrying. We are seemingly happy to be behind four teams and counting, accepting we shouldn’t be competing with them. It’s a poor mindset. 5. Not levelling that at you, just mean debate on a forum is healthy - if it’s not personal! I’ll open up one question on a new post, but hopefully this highlights my stance on it.
I think Ashworth bought for the future with ffp in mind, and by that I mean players they’ve looked at who could turn a profit in a couple of years time
It's fine I don't disagree mate I just think there's something weird going on where by if anyone points out a flaw they're told never mind look where we were before the takeover and be patient. It's being used as a trump card in any debate rather than accepting the person highlighting flaws is correct or even potentially correct. They're then told they're bedwetters or some other playschool insult for not following cult mentality which is to use terms like 'faith' which is an excuse people use for believing in things they don't have evidence for. We are all aware it's a long term plan , we are all excited and happy overall with how things are, but some of us will always point out the things they don't agree with or have concerns with. Roland reminds me of MrTiote and he does raise some points I'd have to agree with, however I don't think we can judge this summers recruitment yet because we've not had our best players on the pitch together yet.
Fair comment. My main gripe is the failure to put things into perspective and the rushing to criticise ...... My two main gripes are 1. The failure to put things into perspective 2. The rushing to criticise and not allowing time such as the summer transfer window and 3. Not taking into account the financial hurdles.... My three main gripes are.... Ultimately, criticism is fine but needs to be constructive and in perspective. Too much of it isn't.
Essentially you're reading views that you don't like and Roland is in overdrive so it's impacting your limbic system. We've got an interesting mix on here in which we have the guys that will search for anything and everything to complain about and then the guys that will search for anything and everything to dismiss any concerns. Then there's DPP.
It’s always constructive. Everyone on this forum are constructive towards our great club. Howe will get it right. He’s just made some small mistakes that’s all. BDB is our weakest link. I can’t wait to see Hall play.
Genuinely I don’t believe he’s our weak link. Defensively, we’re fairly solid. He is the weak link in defence. The weak link is the top third somewhere. Arguments could be over numerous players
