The car manufacturers are now kicking off after investing in meeting the 2030 target.

The environmental protest is gathering pace as well.

Sunak lurches from crisis to crisis with each empty promise. The last 3 PMs will be part of a comedy series in years to come I’m sure. Laughable if it wasn’t affecting people’s lives and livelihoods.

The car manufacturers who all threatened to bugger off?

The relatively rich middle class enviro-mentalists whose lives it wouldn't affect in the slightest?

    O Noes.

It certainly is for me, a petrol vehicle running on hydrogen with less emissions should (l use the word lightly) be cost effective and a much smaller carbon foot print than an electric vehicle.

The biggest issues with electric vehicles are the batteries and recharging of them.
Cost of replacing is enormous for the average user, and recharging isn't readily available to everyone.

The lithium batteries are also a hazard to the environment if they overheat and become involved in fire. Takes large volumes of water to extinguish and there’s always the possibility they will reignite up to 48 hours after being put out I think.

The issue as I see it is both main parties are hostage to their proposed green agendas and now needing to change course. Labour have already done so, tories now doing so. Both are right to do so in my opinion. The challenge for both is what are their alternative plans. Lets see which, if any party, has any coherence to what they come up with. My expectations are low sadly.

As for car manufacturers their investment isnt wasted, you would assume. If they really are ready to hit this deadline then you would imagine they will have queues at their door of all those slamming the politicians for not meeting their green agenda. Everyone can make it happen by buying all these green (ahem) electric cars and doing their personal bit. Then again...

Tbf if the green agenda isn’t ramped up and made the top priority for countries everywhere there isn’t going to be much of a future, never mind a prosperous one.

Rishi is quite simply a waste of skin and I have very little respect for Starmer or to be fair any of the politicians we have at the moment as they are invariably a buch of weak minded apologist who will spin any issue to serve their own purpose. IMO most if not all are weak and spineless and try to conform to what the biased media would like us all to believe.
I despair that slogans like Black lives matter, Gay pride, ageism sexism and all the other isms are needed. we have a country/world full of people saying we want to be treat the same then organising marches to point out why they are different and then complaining about being treat differently. Maybe I am a little too jaded but I don't care if you are black white Asian Nigerian gay straight old young male female. If you treat me with respect then I will treat you the same.
People should not be given jobs based on there colour, gender or disabilities so some corporation can fill a quota, they should be qualified or have made an impression so that they can be trained to be qualified. Education should be for all and not the privileged. Parents need to learn how to parent as there are loads out there who are doing a **** Job and their kids will probably grow up to do another **** job with their Gregg's pasty eating offspring.

Just my rant for the day

Obviously I don't like Rishi to say the least but I do agree with pulling back with the targets for electric cars etc, the infrastructure simply isn't in place. Most people can't afford one either with the state of the economy...and a lot of the mess was caused by his party.

Quite right mate, however reality kicks in.

The PL clubs will never share out their riches through the leagues, we'll never have proportional representation and the main parties will never all work together ...

... still I'd rather we did the right thing rather than turn our back on the problem and blame the Chinese.

Otherwise it's just a case of 'sorry sir, a bigger boy told me to do it.'

    Surely we're better than that.

Your right, l didn't say it could be done, maybe wishful thinking.

The only institution globally would be the UN. Again, wishful thinking on my behalf.
My faith in politicians has been shot to bits, but the global warming is far bigger than any politician.

Chris Packmans Earth series is a great watch. When you see what Earth has gone through to get were we are is quite enormous and we are the custodians.

Just realised Rishi has announced this the day after parliament recessed for the party conferences, they aren't back in the commons to debate until 16th October. Talk about him being weak and spineles...
