It’s that kinda thinking that made us miss out on Bellingham when he went to Germany you’re probably right mind…..
I based it on 38 games Win 37 1-0 Draw with 2nd place away from home 0-0 any other combo would allow another team to match or better us on GS
If you draw with your direct rival twice then I suppose two 0-0 and 36 1-0s is a great season. George graham or jose mourinho's ideal season tbh. Played 38, won 36, drew 2 lost 0, 36 goals for, 0 goals against 110 points. given no other team has even in the history of football had a 36-2-0 record i nthe same season as another team in their league I think you've be fairly safe to say that. In the prem in theory 101 points would be the record. 31-7-0 is actually only 100 points so 32-6-0 = 102 points so 32 goals scored and 0 conceded. City got 100 points on a record of 32-4-2. losing 4-3 to us and losing 3-2 to man utd. they scored 106 goals and conceded 27. I think its fair to say that if anyone ever did win 32-6-0 with 32 goals scored and 0 conceded that nobody would be watching by the end.
To mathematically guarantee a league title, it's 37; win 37 games 1-0 and draw the other 0-0 (112pts)... means the maximum any other team could have done is 36 wins, one draw and one loss (109pts) AC Milan won the league having scored just 36 goals in 1993-94 Edit; be boring as **** though
in fairness there only had 34 games and had 2 points for the win and 1 for the draw. thats why rush ran out of the place after 1 year in the 80s. they also **** housed through the CL gourp with 2 wins and 4 draws. 3 points for the win plus getting shut of keepers picking up the ball etc has improved the game. people look back at that milan team as one of the greats.
That’s exactly what I assumed You can’t draw both games against your direct rival and be guaranteed the title Lol good ol AC Milan lmao
It was hypothetical though Just pointing out there or other things we can do when we lose Mo hypothetically- there is no guarantee that they are all boring 1-0 wins tbh if a team got to within striking distance of winning it like that I would watch just to see if they did it lmao
Now then, now then, believe this or not - my sister works with a bloke whose daughter works in the LFC marketing team. ****in tenuous, I know., but she has given us some great ones in the past, including Virgil at Christmas 2017, Jota when nobody knew we were in for him, and MacAllister before it made the papers. So, it's being claimed that Salah wants to sign A CONTRACT EXTENSION! for an additional 2 years on his current one. And Liverpool are all for it. Far from Antonio's ignorant assertions that Salah is 'chained down' and wants to leave to go to a Muslim country, he loves England and the North West ( including Manchester where his family spends a lot of time !), and he has always found the area incredibly welcoming to Muslims. His main reasoning though is that he and his wife are anxious to complete their kids' education in England. So there's a bit of the Rafa thing going on there too. AND - he genuinely wants to be a Liverpool legend. Could all be bollocks, and Im sceptical about the money thing, but there is a ring of truth about the Muslim issue raised by Antonio being rebutted. All that said, even if he wants to stay - if the Saudis offer £250m in Jan....
well I'd be more inclined to believe such stuff than not and if you can get good odds off a bookie then stick 50 quid on him signing a new deal.
As I said, all anecdotal and unverifiable, But there you have the essence of a good rumour. She has been right quite often though.
Well I'm sure someone will tell us its a massive mistake and he is over the hill the second that contract gets signed.
