I don't believe in jinxes per say. One person giving a prediction on a website somewhere can't possibly impact a game... I do however believe that there could be a correlation between things such as the public/press noticing a trend and that trend ending. It could be as simple as players reading such statistics and losing focus- or the public noticing the unusualness of a statistic as entropy brings a run to an end... ... or there could be no correlation and the appearance of such could just be simple apophenia.
Not even Klopp's record at Liverpool... but I remember our 40-odd unbeaten run ended right when the press started making a big deal about it. I've now seen a couple of articles about our 16 game run... which means it must be about to end. Does the press noticing a trend cause the team to lose focus and end the trend? Does the press notice because they subconsciously sense a weakness and thus the trend surprises them- thus they notice right before a trend ends? Or is there no pattern here at all- and it only appears that the press noticing a trend causes it to end because of some weird confirmation bias (we're expecting it to happen)? Who can say?
