A Bloke calls a health company and orders their 5 day – 5 kgs weight loss programme.
The next day, there's a knock on the door and standing before him a voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe from J.C. dressed in nothing but a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck..
The sign reads, 'If you catch me, you can have me.'
Without a second thought, he takes off after her. A few kilometres later huffing and puffing, he finally gives up.
The same girl shows up the next four days and the same thing happens.
On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 5 kgs as promised.

He calls the company and orders their 5 day – 10 kgs programme.
The next day there's a knock at the door and standing before him is the most stunning, beautiful, sexy woman he has ever seen in his life.
She is wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, 'If you catch me, you can have me'.
Well, he's out the door after her like a shot. This girl is in excellent shape and despite his best efforts, no such luck.
So for the next four days, the same routine happens with him gradually getting in better and better shape.
Much to his delight on the fifth day when he weighs himself, he discovers that he has lost another 10 kgs, as promised.

He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order their 7 day – 25 kgs programme.
'Are you sure?' asks the representative on the phone.. 'This is our most rigorous programme.'
'Absolutely,' he replies, 'I haven't felt this good in years.'

The next day there's a knock at the door and when he opens it he finds a huge muscular guy standing there wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his neck that reads, 'If I catch you, you're mine.'

He lost 31 kgs that week. .. ..

He lost 40 kgs the following week when the stallion(racehorse) turned up wearing pink Reeboks and the same sign round its neck as the guy the previous week. :emoticon-0104-surpr:emoticon-0105-wink::emoticon-0105-wink:

First time I have looked at this thread (to busy exercising, reading the transfer thread and watching City-at least according to my wife). For overall health I see no mention of Veganism. I converted a year ago and lost a couple of pounds not that I needed too since weigh the same as I did when I was 18 (now 80). But others should at least look at it, lots of data out there that not only indicates the health benefits personally, but also extolls the benefits to the planet and future generations. According to some in the know 80% of the energy used in food productions goes to producing food to feed animals that we eat or create other products that we eat. And if we all went Vegan we would solve the climate crisis in an instance. Definitely food for thought (pun intended).
Back to exercise think a daily routine combining stretching, strenghening and aerobic/anerobic coupled with recreatioanal activity also on a daily basis does it. As the guys in Portland just down the road from me say-just do it.
Personally I work out on a daily basis for over an hour again stretching, along with a combo of push ups and pull ups and star jumps etc for aerobic exercise. For recreational exercise I get out on the river when its windy and Wing foil for 1 to 2 hours.

Regarding veganism, from my experience training rugby back in England and training sprinting/handball now... it's really dependent on the individual.

For some, it works great, they get more energy, healthier, lose weight etc., for others, they have the complete opposite - vitamin deficit, lower energy, weight gain from over consumption of carb and lower power. I wouldn't advise anyone who has a physical job and then trains to follow a vegan diet as they simply won't be able to get enough protein to maintain body/muscle mass. It also seems that it works better for older ppl than 18-30s, probably because of the reduced inflammation. Ethnicity and genetics also plays a part with diet. Northern European heritages tend to be able to process dairy and meat well, grains bad (specifically gluten), whereas opposite with others, although this is a huge generalisation.

The environmental issue with veganism is that what you save on food production energy, you spend on food miles/transportation (not much soy protein is produced in europe), unless you live on local turnips ;) but everyone makes their own decisions and has their own boundaries and anyone not feeling great should experiment and run tests on themselves and follow the data - n=1, we're all different and have different nutritional and exercise requirements, find what works for you.

Any movement or activity at any age is good and good on everyone who does, don't need to be an athlete. The ultimate aim is to be healthy enough to enjoy life with different generations of family as long as possible

Going vegan will not solve the climate crisis.
A few cows farting is nowhere as damaging as air travel.

I have molars and incisors, and will continue to use them for the purpose nature intended. :emoticon-0125-mmm:

There's no issue at all with protein or vitamin deficiency on a vegan diet.
Saying some people put weight on because they 'over consume' carbs is because they have a **** diet, not because they're vegan. If you just stop meat and don't replace it with plant based protein, so just eat more carbs, then of course you'd be protein deficient...but that's because they've been idiots.
Beans, pulses, peas etc are fine protein sources. Not all vegans survive on pretend meat that tend to use soy etc (although increasingly they don't anyway. Pea protein is used more and more now)

Your molars are for vertical forces when chewing and your incisors are for horizontal forces.
Neither are for specifically chewing meat
If you think they are, because you're somehow like a carnivore, then have a go at chewing fresh meat of a gazelle carcus and see how you get on...

Food proteins aren't the same. You have to eat a lot more grams of plant protein to get the same amount of essential amino acids as if you eat beef, for example (I think the ratio is 2,5 to 1 on average, from memory). A side effect of this means that you're eating a higher volume of included carbohydrate to get the same effect, which can result in weight gain.

Some ppl can tolerate the raised level and so the diet is good for them, some cannot and it's not good for them. I wasn't writing to state that the diet was bad - for many it's good, but then for many it's not. I wouldn't ever discourage anyone for trying something new, but have to accept we are all different and it's not one size fits all.

For example, I can eat steak and cheese and drink milk with relatively zero bad side effects, but if I have a small bowl of pasta or some bread, Im ****ting through the eye of a needle an hour later and feel hungover the next day, so eaten gluten free since my 40s and feel better for it, but then most can eat wheat with no problems at all, so my diet isn't good for everyone, but for some, it can be.

But regarding the ethical reasons for veganism, you're probably in the right and our great grandchildren will see how we have treated sentient beings in farming the same way that we regard slavery. But clearly, I don't think about this enough to change.

Rest assured I've had raw meat on more than one occasion. I've also cussed at a car on more than one occasion. :emoticon-0103-cool:
