Very good display and a well deserved win by France tonight over the All Blacks. 29 - 13

    Indeed.

    Great start.

I think it’s clear that the winner will come from one side of the draw as it’s very unbalanced .

Good win for England particularly with 14 men for most of the game .

Need to work on our discipline I guess !

I am not sure that a sending off was the right decision. Two players accidentally crash into each other, head first, so it seemed harsh to penalize one and not the other.

Do have a good look at this wonderful piece of architecture next time the cameras are in Marseille. It is an old stadium that has been renovated into one of the best in the world.

Yes seems to have been given by “VAR”- as controversial in rugby as football then !

What a game between Wales and Fiji. At the end both sets of players could hardly walk off the pitch.

That was certainly a very close win for Wales - probably fortunate.

    Very good game .

The Welch rugby team are based near Paris, so to travel to their game in Bordeaux last night they took the train. Looking at the size of some, they probably got a bulk booking price.

That reminds me of a trip home from a Watford match a few years ago. I had to change trains at Glasgow to get to Aberdeen, and found myself in the same carriage as the Glasgow Warriors rugby union team - thankfully they were only going as far as Stirling, as they were absolute giants. The one sitting opposite me was so big that he couldn't get his legs under the table, and he had to sit sideways with his legs blocking the aisle.

Reminds me of a trip home from the USA: two American Football team were on board via Heathrow to Germany to play in a tournament / exhibition match. The plane needed the longest runway and was at maximum weight... long run up to take-off. Boeing 777. Ridiculous!

France clearly the better side tonight, yet lucky to still have 15 on the field, and what looked like a good try for Uruguay ruled out by the dreaded VAR. 13 - 5 HT.

Yes that was lucky and the disallowed try harsh on the Uruguayans too .

    Uruguay were excellent .

France complacent and very sloppy .

They won’t want to rely on those players too much !

An outstanding innings by South Africa's Heinrich Klaasen in today's ODI against Australia - 174 from 83 balls.

Chasing 416, Australia are 53/2 - can't see them getting anywhere near victory...:(

They're making Australia look distinctly third rate.

I don't know what has happened to RU in Oz, but it has gone totally backwards - they're just a shadow of what they used to be. Fiji, on the other hand, have improved out of sight...

A very disjointed display by England in the first half against Japan. Far too many mistakes, and dropped balls. Hope that stern words are spoken during the interval.

A bit of a statement made today re which is Australia's favourite sport:

    AFL semi-final, Collingwood v GWS attendance 97.6k

    NRL semi-final, Penrith v Melbourne attendance 37.5k

I guess I'm in the minority...

Yes - is it because the Aussies see the AFL as their own sport in a way so more follow it ?

Personally never really seen it - apart from on Trans World sport when I was young !!!
