And just in case you didn't believe me about Scally still operating the monkey...........

Apart from the utterly ridiculous situation regarding the non collection of my replica shirt, there were a couple of other Scally-style nonsenses at today's match.

My older son received his e (season)ticket on his mobile phone and also got a season ticket card...When he tried to have his phone scanned - the turnstile operative was unable to get her machine to work (( just like at most games last season. ))... The turnstile operative made several attempts to 'zap' the barcode - but (( as usual )), gave up and let my son into the ground.

On the same 'theme', a friend who sits next to me, told me that when he tried to have his season ticket card scanned, the turnstile operative rejected the card - telling my friend '' This card isn't valid for this game !! ''...... My friend was in disbelief at this suggestion (( at least the turnstile was 'open-for-business.)).... He showed the front of the season ticket card - which depicted 2023 /24... Needless to say he was allowed entry.

You'd have thought their team was losing 0-3 at home to the bottom team !
Just watched the Arsenal v Man Utd game.........When Arsenal scored to go 2-1 up, Sky TV showed a picture of many Arsenal fans outside the stadium....... In their rush to get home a few minutes earlier, they left an intriguing game at 1-1....idiots................
...and must have felt really stupid when they found out that Arsenal scored a 3rd goal.

    Brexit -That went well !
I'm not very impressed with any politician - but - I can have some sympathy for those in Government.... Whilst they could do a lot better, in terms of the financial climate that exists - the Tories have had the dubious pleasure of presiding during a period of general World financial instability - where little ( if any ) control of finances has been possible (( Brexit followed by Covid, then Putin has screwed most of the World. ))............so it's a good job that we had Brexit back in 2016.

I seem to recall that we'd be promised millions of extra £££ for the NHS - with several more hospitals being built..... (( when did you last see your Doctor? ))
We were told we would not have to bow to the ECHR - taking charge of UK laws for the UK..... fat chance --- and talking of fat chances -
We were told that we'd be in control of our borders! Please - don't laugh - because the immigration situation is ridiculously serious ! - and if ( or rather, when ), Labour win the GE next year, things will get WORSE !

We hear that despite the UK giving the French £700 Million to (supposedly) patrol their shores - the French are taking the money (and the piss), and waving at migrants as they board their dinghies.....and in mid-channel, the UK border 'forces' escort the inflatables to Blighty - and straight to the nearest benefit office (( via a fast-pass to a GP /Dentist check-up. )) - at the cost of even more Millions of £££ every day.......

.....and that's not the worst part !!!
Sir Kier Starmer wants to really rip off our testicles !.... He states that Labour would agree to take a quota of immigrants from the EU - which basically means MORE migrants than now (if that were possible ! ) - because any ' unlucky' immigrants who were not selected for the 'quota' would simply get on a rubber boat -- and, a bit like Groundhog Day, the French would do bugger all to stop them - because they'd be too busy counting the Millions of £££ that we'll still be giving them..............

.......but don't worry, it may not cost the Tax-payer any money - that will come from savings from treating all the extra deaths in this country - due to people (( non illegal immigrant people )), not being able to access the NHS, and the robbery of our pensioners - who won't be promised their triple-lock......

You may think that 'Triple-lock' sounds like a good deal - but - the State pension is 'raised' in April based on 'factors' that have taken 12 months to build...so the OAPs have had to endure 12 months of rises in costs before playing catch-up (((( just to keep in touch )))) - not to be splashed with free money (( that's only for the French and illegal immigrants ! - who have paid £ ZERO into the system - and not worked for decades - paying Tax etc etc ))).......
.... anyway - the poor OAPs will die unnecessarily early - because they can't get medical help...... so - perhaps we don't need to give the NHS any more money - and let's not bother to build hospitals (( we'll need more hotels for the boat people. )).....

..... It's a bloody good job that Brexit went well..... and - before you vote next year -
don't forget what Starmer wants to do with even MORE migrants and YOUR money.
    Enjoy your weekend!

    Clap ! ..... I'll let you judge if it's a spelling mistake !
Yesterday, at Priestfield, the minute's silence was observed (almost) impeccably. I believe I heard a lone voice summoning all his intelligence near the end of the minute....
I believe that due respect was given by 99.999% of the fans of both teams --- unlike the nonsense at Millwall earlier this afternoon...
Firstly, the decision was made to have a minute's applause !! - Why ? - is it because it was suspected that neither the Millwall or Leeds fans could keep their gob shut for 60 seconds ? -- well - they weren't wrong!

I was disappointed that 'applause' was the choice of tribute - surely that is reserved for a football 'legend' / Club servant etc... A period of silence was more fitting for the dignity of so many (strangers), who had perished (( or am I being picky ? ))......

anyway - the decision was to clap - and they couldn't do that right !

MANY Millwall morons could be heard cheering and chanting their team's name during the period of (supposed ) respect..... Disgraceful behaviour.... some might say crap!

Maybe it's the apathy towards it mate, it feels like virtually every game now is dominated by respects to someone. Each and everyone all worthy of said respects, but what place is it of football or sport in general to make this a weekly occurrence, ok bit of an exaggeration but since when did football become the social memorial for every happening in the world. It feels like kids getting stabbed daily on our streets in the UK, maybe there is a worthy cause, actually do something about it though, rather than us all standing in silence at another young life taken.

Not everyone who claps is a nice guy !
I entirely agree brb....at least we're not seeing the knee-taking nonsense anymore -- (( although as I understand it, that nonsense will reappear at 'special' events ! ))) - all of that just before the players proceed to make themselves hypocrites by mockery of the 'virtue-signalling' as they take lumps out of each other and do everything to cheat a decision out of the gutless referees.

Sadly, Football has become all about money and winning by any means... certainly at the 'top' end of the Pyramid - and, if we're honest, that mentality has infected well down the leagues..There is little, or no room for sentiment in most sports - with Football seemingly the worst affected by greed and fairness.

I believe that Politics should be kept out of Sport - the mix of the two makes for a lot of hypocrisy .. There are enough hypocrites in Westminster, and If there is one particular type of person that I most despise - that is a hypocrite.... If I am going to be treated like a proverbial clot, please have the good grace to not pretend that you're a nice guy by clapping.

Your clapping comment is quite fitting, because it demonstrates the hypocrisy of our respects - there are over 11,000 people killed in Libya from the floods and around 9,000 missing and further 40,000 displaced, and our initial charity donation is £1M, so about £1.25 from every person at the Man Utd game yesterday lol oh and of course then the disaster in Morocco, but like the NHS, clapping don't pay the bills.

Whilst I'm not a Labour supporter, I fail to see how we could be any worse than we are now with a change in government. The opposition is the only option if successfully removes the corrupt fat cats that run this nation now. A year on and we're still suffering at the hands of our worst Prime Minister in history, the fact that she killed the economy worse than her predecessor who has been attributed to the deaths of 25,000 people due to his unwillingness to act early enough in the covid crisis is mind boggling. The fact that our NHS is crumbling away whilst the people at the top take the profits off their mates who run the Private Health care businesses, the fact that Billions of pounds were squandered due to illegal awarding of public contracts is mind-boggling how this country hasn't reacted far worse than it has. School buildings, public swimming pools, council offices, council run theatres and hospitals, all paid for with government funding are going to RAAC and ruin (hope you enjoy the pub). We've seen more strikes this year for the first time since Thatcher's reign that shows how badly the existing government has got the place into.

Brexit is just a minute issue amongst the thousands of other problems the current party has created in its 13 years of running. The fact that Boris Johnson's own sister who is just as Tory as the rest of the family even said live on her LBC show that the Conservatives need some time away to be in opposition to regroup, shows just how much in disarray they are as an organisation. Backbenchers consistently calling for Sunak's head when they voted for him, or he replaced the one that they had voted for which was worse. If they can get their house in order, how the hell can they get this country in order?

Pegleg - I agree that the country is in a mess... The Tories have a lot of the blame.. I did give some consideration for circumstances beyond their control ( such as Covid and Putin. )
It is difficult to believe that things could be worse ((( as I have suggested. ))) - but - I remember the last Labour government - leaving a note for the incoming Tories - to say that the country was broke !
I'd like to think that a Labour government will realise that it can't just print and throw (non-existent) money at problems --- that's what the Tories have done with Furlough - and now we don't like having to repay the debt.

.... I don't doubt we could argue about the crap way that all politicians have done their jobs...My main point, in my previous post, was about the ridiculous situation with more & more illegal immigrants arriving each day - with the Tories giving huge amounts of money to them - with the boat people being able to access a GP and Dentist as soon as they arrive (((( from a totally 'safe' country - France - to whom we are giving Millions of £££ to 'supposedly' prevent them leaving France. ))))......

This country simply cannot afford this level of expense - to people who have paid bugger all into the 'system.' ---- whilst the OAPs (( who have paid their dues etc )), are being told that they won't get the triple-lock (( designed to merely catch-up with inflation - 12 months after the calculation process began. ))

I mentioned Brexit - not going well - because - one thing is for certain - we haven't regained control of our borders - and now Starmer is saying that Labour government will take even More illegals !

Russell Bland........ I'll let you decide if it's a spelling mistake.
I actually believe that I have been very flattering to somebody who thinks he's a noble sort of chap... I don't know about being aristocratic - but I do think he's nothing short of being a Count ! - or with that hair, perhaps a Countess.

    Nobody cared !
When Bonne scored yesterday, I decided to have a bit if fun.... As all around me were celebrating, I pretended to have a collapse - and lurched forward onto my knees and across the top of the seat in front of me... For dramatic affect, I let out a pang of pain....... Do you think anyone showed any concern ? - more chance of the referee doing the right thing!
I suppose I wasn't the only one 'in shock' at seeing a 'blue-moon.' I certainly struggled to attract any meaningful attention - until I then made a (gentle) grab for the (lower part) of a leg of a female friend in front of me... I told her I was sorry, but I had 'collapsed.' She asked '' What happened?'' I replied '' I just saw Bonne score a goal.''-- luckily she saw the funny side..................

.......... but with that refereeing decision, I very nearly did collapse !

    Justice - NOT revenge !
Like (probably) all of you, I am appalled at the horrible situation in Israel ( and Gaza ...and other parts of the World. ) My heart literally bleeds at the senseless waste of life - and the indignity that humans can inflict on each other.

I do not profess to know the 'politics' of the country - but - what I have seen in the television footage has nothing to do with any political differences...it is nothing less than EVIL coming from BOTH sides of the political divide.

What the BBC showed last night appeared to be acts of revenge - by indiscriminate bombing of civilian buildings in Gaza city - in retaliation for Hamas atrocities committed against Israeli Jews......... Please, don't misunderstand me - I am deeply saddened by what Hamas has done - but - that does not give the Israeli military the right to slaughter innocent occupants in Gaza city as an act of vengeance?

It is correct that the World should unite to prevent the spread of War and the evil of war.. Anyone guilty of war 'crimes' should be made to stand trial - but - through the correct legal process to bring about justice. Any act of revenge is a form of retaliatory savagery. ... it will only create more evil from all concerned...........

and whilst it might be easy for any of you to say that I am not directly affected by the Hamas slaughter - I am also not one of their captives who are under threat of execution if the Israeli military continue to retaliate by murdering innocent people in Gaza.

    Apology - have I missed it ?
Last night (( no, I didn't bother to go to Portsmouth ), Sky TV had a program with ex referee Howard Webb wriggling and squirming during a post mortem on the Spurs v Liverpool - and not actually saying ''sorry'' for the VAR mess.... He was literally falling over himself to say that the new lines of communication will prevent repeat performances - we'll see.....

.... He also wasn't comfortable when conceding that Kovacic should have received a 2nd yellow card in Arsenal v Man City.

but - No mention of the horrendous error by Gills referee v Mansfield.... what, don't a L2 side deserve an apology from anyone at the FA ?... Unless I have missed it, I haven't seen or heard anything - obviously the referee didn't check the rule book after the game - what else can excuse the failure to say ''Sorry, I messed up.'' (( unless his arrogance is an obstacle! )) --- at least with the Kovacic (non card) decision, the matter was 'subjective' as opposed to a point of 'law.'

oh- and as a minor side issue - might I add my displeasure at the unsporting act by MK Dons not to give the ball back to Gills (after a throw-in) - when Gills booted the ball out for an injured player.... very Neil Warnock of them !

    The 'C' word........
..... I am not referring to today's game - as a certain 'C' word would be high praise for what was served up......nor am I referring to the clot in the light green clothing - who acted as a proverbial clot for his disgraceful gesture towards Bogle after the first penalty.... although to be fair to this idiot - there were a few worthy of the accolade of ' clot ' at that moment in time -- such as Bogle for his incitement of the fans - did he expect a warm round of applause ? ......Then there was the referee -- I have no problem with that first penalty - but - surely he had a duty to give Bogle a card for provoking the Rainham End...... then there's the well-meaning fan who vented his spleen at the aforementioned clot (( I won't repeat the nature of his appalling gesture. )) - -- I can understand his anger at the stupidity of Mr. Clot - but he should have let the stewards deal with the matter........ well - I understand why the disgusted fan took matters onto himself - because the stewards did nothing while the clot demonstrated his bigotry - WHY did they not haul the clot out straight away ?-- instead it was left to the Police - one of whose number was having a clot moment - when he decided to manhandle the 'protesting' fan - and initially allowed the clot to retain his seat --- until eventually common sense prevailed - and Mr. Clot was spared the remaining 80+ minutes of some of the biggest load of excrement (( best described by using a different 4 lettered 'c' word )) that I have seen in 60 years of watching much crap.................................................... No, I digress -

...... the 'C' word to which I refer is Christmas... On my return home, close to where I live, I saw 4 houses decked out with fairy lights a-la-christmas sort.. WHY - we've not had Halloween ( more crap ), or Fireworks Night.... It's too early you clots !

The end could be 'nigh' ! (( ....it was nearly reached just before last Christmas. ))
I have been coming to Priestfield since 1963 -- and have watched an awful lot of excrement...I have stayed faithful - even when I moved well away from Gillingham.
My 'faith' was based on the only expectation that I asked (demand) of the players - commitment - to match my commitment in continued support...and, for a fair amount of time, the players have been reasonably honest.

The 'honesty' to which I refer, has allowed me to tolerate the players obvious limits of individual and collective quality. My acceptance of 'mediocrity' has, over the years, not been tolerated by many 'lapsed' fans - who have chosen to seek alternative entertainment on matchdays (( crowds are only about half those in my 'infancy.'))...... and, in my dotage, I am beginning to have less stomach for the rubbish that has become more prevalent. Yesterday's so-called 'performance' was utter rubbish - and ranks in the top 20 of utter rubbish that I have endured in 60 years.

.....Probably what hurt me most was the absolute waste of my time (( bear, also in mind, my 100 mile commute to home games. )).. Mrs. A and I had spent a couple of days in the week - performing grandparent duty - which was utterly beautiful - and, before yesterday's game, I had the opportunity, for a short while, to continue the 'family bliss' with my grandchildren - who mocked me for leaving them saying '' you know the Gills will only lose''. I asked them for a prediction.. they said 1-2 (( at least they thought Gills would score ! ))

Unfortunately, yesterday's utter rubbish has been far too common in recent years - and was rife in the long period before last Christmas..... even shortly after the start of last season, I didn't want to keep on coming to the games - and only did so as I had, (( as usual )), bought 3 season tickets for me and my sons - and used the day as a quasi family occasion. ..... It is fair to say that, a year ago, I was at the edge of my tolerance of the crap that I had suffered -- both off as well as on the pitch.

....Then came in the Galinsons - and suddenly, the atmosphere changed - as did the stuff on the grass (( not that we had become world beaters. )) It was nice to see the performances and results were improving -- BUT - I remained grounded and pragmatic..... whilst I am very grateful for the Galinsons keeping Gills alive, I was (( and am )), under no illusion that the squad is nowhere close to good enough for the top places in humble league Two.

The additions to the squad are much better than a year ago (( but - could hardly have been any worse ! )) - but, I am realistic as to their ability -- the players are in league Two for a reason -- they probably are not good enough for higher levels of the game - and - that painful realisation is not often permitted by fans -who want instant success....for many, merely 'average' performances are unacceptable in the same way as I can appreciate honest endeavour.

.....It's not that I am unambitious for The Gills - but - the Galinsons need to spend a big chunk of cash on recruitment if things are to dramatically improve at Priestfield....what Brad has spent probably only represents loose change in his pocket. (( and I am grateful - as a certain former chairman wouldn't have given a 'penny-for-the-guy' )) --

So- I am not really expecting wonderful things any time soon. I have remained loyal to the team - through thick and very thin...and will be happy to continue to attend matches - where I will accept losses as well as the wins.... what I am having increasing problem with, is accepting losses in the manner of the dreadful utter crap that was shown v Newport....... and now I have to face my grandchildren as they say '' We told you. ''

I can accept my grandchildren making fun of me - the love we share, and the absolute pleasure in 'wasting' time with them, cannot be described with mere words.... I am nearly at the end point of 'nigh' in my acceptance of utter crap from Gillingham Football Club. .... I really don't want to tolerate more urine extraction and time wasted at Priestfield.

And yet, if she had (previously) been a 'He' nobody would have objected !

I am struggling to understand the madness of the decision - and discrimination against the woman..... all she wanted to do was complete the marathon carrying essential medical supplies -- unless water is now defined as a performance-enhancing 'drug' - and to carry what was basically a bag of urine.
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-67310110

...... she needed the bag to take her 'waste' product - the authorities have done a great job of taking the P out of her !

The High Street is dying !
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that Mrs. A and I had done all our Christmas shopping online - and lovely it was for not having to trawl the shops - after looking for a parking spot (( x how many shops etc ))............... that's not to say that I don't try to shop 'locally.'

Today, I needed to buy some plastic assembly joints - of a specific colour.... I went to my local Wickes, B & Q , The Range, Screwfix - without success... I then 'gave up' and resorted to Amazon....... item is now ordered and paid for ( free postage ), and arriving in a couple of days.............. all done whilst drinking a cappuccino - which would have cost me thirty times what it cost me to make if I had bought it in a local cafe !

The King's speech --- surely he could have used the 'Kings English?
BSG (( a blast from the past )), once accused me of being pedantic - well - here goes.....

When I heard a snippet of Charlie boy's drivel, I actually laughed out aloud so much that Mrs. A thought I was having a fit!
Charles 3 had just read the bit: ''My government (( shouldn't that be a proper noun? )), will act to keep communities safe from crime, anti-social behaviour and illegal migration.)).....
Pardon me for being a pedant - but - surely Chas should have said immigration - there is a (subtle ) difference from migration...... I will leave it to you to use your dictionaries for the relevant definitions.... but - migration (in my understanding ) refers more to 'outward' bound movement - whereas immigration refers to permanent movement into a different area (( whether by dinghies or otherwise. ))

Chuck could have summed up the chat by saying that My (any) Government will continue to extract more urine out of you plebs until you are dead -- and then will P on your graves through death duties.

    ..... anyway -
the 'speech' was more boring the my posts in this thread - and that takes some doing.
