Glad he's gone on loan first to be honest, rather than just sold or let go. Interesting to see how he does. If he's crap, then we've got all the excuses to get rid. :p

I live in Barnsley, not an ideal place for him to go on loan to. Will probably end up in prison for murder...

Ranger will play this season - probably in the new re-make of Mean Machine for the prison team.

Loan Ranger? Will he have a mask & a big white horse like the one off the telly?

no question he has the potential but potential will never turn into anything more without effort. He can't be arsed to show up for training. He can't be arsed to stay sober the 48 hours before a match. He can't be arsed to stay out of trouble while on bail.

Theoretically he could change all this tomorrow.

    Theoretically.

I don't think the Carroll comparison is fair...Carroll was an idiot who acted a tit when he was drunk, but he clearly worked hard enough in training to warrant the staff giving him these extra chances - Ranger doesn't!

what's the gangsta scene like around barnsley?

that will make all the difference imo, he needs to get away from the tag-alongs that are dragging him down.

No gangsters, just twats that think they are hard. I suppose he will be able to hang around the town centre with his friends picking on old people in their mobility scooters though,

I hope Keith Hill can knock some sense into him, think he needs to understand he's not a superstar and needs to knuckle down if he wants to succeed. His unwillingness to graft (unless he's in the limelight of course) is something most of us had hoped he'd grow out of but he's not a teenager any more. He needs to shape up fast, adopt a professional attitude in fitting with our current team or risk giving himself a reputation that will keep him out of the top flight.

Really hope this deal sorts him out as the lad clearly has talent.

Up to him but after preaching patience because of his undoubted ability, I must admit I've given up. I hope he turns it round but I'm not holding my breath. Like with Barton I'll treat it as a pleasant surprise if he turns his life around.

I maintain a very slight hope he might shape the **** up and commit, because he could still be a class player. If not then I'd just terminate his contract, far more trouble than he's worth. At least Barton and Carroll performed on the pitch, Ranger currently has more arrests than goals for NUFC, in over 50 appearances.

Uhh ya, and then Andy cleaned up his act off the pitch (relatively speaking) and showed his improved attitude by...****ing off to Liverpool at the first opportunity for bigger money?
I wasn't someone who jumped on Nile's back when he missed chances last year, I was rooting for him to come on right up through Birmingham at home, but I've grown sick of his antics and **** attitude the past 6 or so months. He'll need a couple years of good behaviour to sway my opinion now.

You're right there.... I'm sure he has the ability to be awesome in his mid 20's, but the half wit needs to grow up. And fast. Let him go out on load for a couple of years, see if it sorts him out. The horrible twat.

I'd honestly forgotten he ever scored for us (twice in the Champ apparently). The guy may only be 20 but he still somehow manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory whenever the goal appears.

There's a reason why he's been displaced by Sammy this season, and it's not just his attitude.
If he goes to Barnsley, sets the world alight and renounces his bad ways for good, I might consider giving him a shot on the bench.
